The term 'Oneironaut' refers to one who is able to consciously explore dream worlds of himself and/or of others through telepathy. Some oneironauts claim that certain psychedelics can induce and enhance lucid dreaming and the ability to tap into another person's consciousness. Despite its abundance of speed, energy, and complexity, "Sparse" is actually pretty sparse by GotS's standards. It contains only three major transitions and lasts less than three minutes, but those transitions are abrupt and therefore easy for the first-time listener to follow. The song possesses a catchy "adventure" quality; none of the parts are repeated. "Sparse" is very straightforward from a technical standpoint, so mixing came easy despite its being one of the oldest recordings on the album.

"All Kinds of Exhaustion" is one of the first songs GotS composed, but this recording is one of the newest. is the third and final lyrical track on the album. The first half of it is dancy, upbeat, and a bit poppy, and that is a refreshing departure considering the track just before it resembles a catastrophic storm. When the instrumental outro begins it obtains the quality of power that many of the other songs on the album share, allowing it to blend in quite nicely.

Russian philosopher Leo Tolstoy argued that the more a work of art makes you embody the specific experience that it attempts to convey, the better it is. He probably would have been a fan of this song. "The Vanishing of Isle de Jean Charles" contains samples of radio Public Service Announcements leading up to Hurricane Betsy in September of 1965 warning Louisiana residents about the approaching storm so they would be able to evacuate their homes. It was only after the samples were added that the song's transitions began to resemble the stages of a hurricane in a very Tolstoyan manner -- a large crescendo buildup, a destructive, surfy climax that seems to never end, and a slower "calm-after-the-storm" outro. The song was then named "The Vanishing of Isle de Jean Charles" after Isle de Jean Charles, a small sliver of land on the Gulf of Mexico side of the levee in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. that gets completely flooded by every tropical storm that passes through. The island is eroding quickly, and the native Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw inhabitants there are being ordered to evacuate permanently before their land vanishes for good. "Magnum Morte" means "great (or big) death" in Latin. Perhaps one can try to interpret the lyrics for him or herself in order to find out exactly why that is the case. It is the calmest song on the album overall, but its dark nature and its anticipatory instrumental buildup ensures that it doesn't lack energy by any measure. Enjoy this recording to its fullest because the song is very rarely performed live!

"Sensory Distortions" is the oldest song in GotS's set list. In fact, most of it was written by Plair and Olivier without a drummer in mind, before Frost completed the lineup in late 2007. It is a mutt of a song. Each part was composed individually at different points in time, and then they were fused together with the proper transitions. It is also the oldest recording (2008) along with tracks 6 and 8. It utilizes recording equipment and some instruments that would be considered obsolete by today's standards, but hard work, dedication, and the latest mastering software have allowed this song to blend in with the others. It contains more recorded tracks than any other song on the album. Several additional guitar, synth, percussion, and other effects tracks were recorded to enhance it density and energy. Therefore, this recording differs the most from its live-performed version which lacks all of that extra, but perhaps rocks even harder to compensate. As a result of all that, "Sensory Distortions" is uniquely important. It represents the band's origin -- the place from which they have evolved musically, for better or for worse...

The English prefix 'hetero' means 'of different or opposite', and 'chromatic' is a music term defined as 'relating to or using notes not belonging to the scale of key in which a particular song was written'. So, the name "Heterochromatic" appropriately refers to the transitions that this song makes -- sometimes unexpectedly changing key, rhythm, and tempo. It is both one of the danciest and hardest-rocking songs that GotS have written, and for that reason it has become a fan-favorite at live performances.

Latin for "slow organ", "Largo Parenchyma" was named for the organ-synth sound one can hear in the verses. Because of the combination of its melodic, singable lyrics, powerful buildups, and its hard-rocking instrumental outro, it has proven to be a favorite of a wide range of live audiences.

"Tell Them About the Frequencies (We've Found)" may be first in the track list, but it was the last of all of the songs on this album to be composed (2010). It was recorded immediately after its composition with a combination of equipment used on the earlier recordings (tracks 4, 6, 8) and the subsequent ones (tracks 2, 3, 5, 7, 9). During mixing in 2013, it was found to possess adequate energy and overall quality so that it would not have to be re-recorded. It is also the most accurate indicator of how GotS's sound will evolve into their sophomore release... whenever that will be.

Ballistic panspermia, sometimes referred to as interplanetary panspermia, is a version of the panspermia hypothesis in which it is argued that impact-expelled rocks from a planet's surface serve as transfer vehicles for spreading biological material from one planet to another within the same solar system. It requires that the microorganisms survive (1) the impact ejection process from the planet of origin; (2) traveling through the solar system; (3) landing on a planet within the same solar system.
