It really lifted me through a very demanding week – too good to remain in the unreleased folder. Unreleased released, especially for you!

Unreleased Mixes

BC Mix Basic Channel (2019): I've been quite a regular customer at Hardwax. For the somewhat 20 years anniversary I recorded my version of a Basic Channel Mix.

Basic Dub III (2008): Another feature mix for Basic Channel / Rhythm & Sound / Burial Mix. I did this Dub mix on a laid back spring day after spending the winter in New Zealand. This is the third version recorded on a Revox tape machine.

Sued Mix (2017): This is a feature mix for a favorite Berlin Label which was released by Drift Ashore and really made it to a Pitchfork feature that year. Its fast paced, more experimental. A single shot, done with Vinyl.

Rongo Summer (2007): I recorded that mix in Karamea New Zealand. Back then so many people were happy about it. Summer vibes!

The Record Show (2019): I think this is one of my best mixes because it goes between fresh and modern mastered tracks to muddy tape recordings back and forth and it still keeps the energy. I really like that mix, even it got no plays :)

Waschmaschine @ Radio Corax (2006): In 2006 I played some more shows at Radio Corax. I'm really happy I found this recording which was a bit different. I can still remember how I was feeling that day...

Just fixed the old computer and found this! Waschmaschine was a broadcast for electronic music on Radio Corax where I played sometimes. That evening the show started a bit differently and I think its still cool.

Sued Records Mix. Drift Ashore was shut down. It's a reupload!

With its vibes unapologetically dialed in to the 1990s’ vision of soulful futurism, Berlin’s Sued label has built a ravenous fan base on the back of a sleek, idiosyncratic approach to techno and house. Jeff Mills is an American techno DJ and producer who has been active in the electronic music scene since the 1980s. He is widely considered to be one of the most influential figures in techno music and has been credited with helping to develop the genre from its roots in Detroit into a global phenomenon.

Jeff Mills began his career as a DJ in the early 1980s and in 1987 he joined the group Underground Resistance, which became a major force in the development of techno music. He later went on to establish his own record label Axis Records and has produced numerous solo albums as well as collaborations with other artists.

One of Mills' most significant projects is his Purpose Maker label which he launched in 1997. Purpose Maker was created as a platform for Jeff Mills to explore new sounds and experiment with different genres and has been responsible for some of his most innovative and groundbreaking work. The label has also served as a launching pad for a number of other techno artists and has had a major influence on the development of the genre.

Jeff Mills is known for his innovative use of technology in his music and has often incorporated elements of science fiction and futurism into his work. He has also been involved in numerous multimedia projects including film scores and installations.

The dub techno mix played as they drove down the highway while the sun rose over, casting a warm glow around them. Everything merged with the hum of the engine and the rush of the wind through the open windows, creating a seamless blend of sounds that carried them forward.

Rhythm & Sound is a collaborative music project founded by Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, the same duo behind Basic Channel. The project began in the late 1990s and continued through the 2000s, and is known for its fusion of dub, techno, and reggae music.

"See Mi Yah" is notable for its focus on traditional dub techniques such as echo and reverb, as well as its use of live instrumentation and vintage analog equipment. The album's sonic aesthetic is characterized by its warm, organic sound, which creates a sense of depth and spaciousness.

In addition to its musical qualities, "See Mi Yah" is also noteworthy for its collaborative and cross-cultural approach. Rhythm & Sound's fusion of dub and reggae with electronic music was innovative at the time, and their use of Jamaican vocalists helped to bridge the gap between different musical cultures.
