Sorat'h, Ninth Mehl:

ਰੇ ਨਰ ਇਹ ਸਾਚੀ ਜੀਅ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Rae Nar Eih Saachee Jeea Dhhaar ||
रे नर इह साची जीअ धारि ॥
O man, grasp this Truth firmly in your soul.

ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਲਗਤ ਨ ਬਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sagal Jagath Hai Jaisae Supanaa Binasath Lagath N Baar ||1|| Rehaao ||
सगल जगतु है जैसे सुपना बिनसत लगत न बार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The whole world is just like a dream; it will pass away in an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਰੂ ਭੀਤਿ ਬਨਾਈ ਰਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਰਹਤ ਨਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ॥
Baaroo Bheeth Banaaee Rach Pach Rehath Nehee Dhin Chaar ||
बारू भीति बनाई रचि पचि रहत नही दिन चारि ॥
Like a wall of sand, built up and plastered with great care, which does not last even a few days,

ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਕਹਾ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
Thaisae Hee Eih Sukh Maaeiaa Kae Ourajhiou Kehaa Gavaar ||1||
तैसे ही इह सुख माइआ के उरझिओ कहा गवार ॥१॥
Just so are the pleasures of Maya. Why are you entangled in them, you ignorant fool? ||1||

ਅਜਹੂ ਸਮਝਿ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਨਾਹਿਨਿ ਭਜਿ ਲੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
Ajehoo Samajh Kashh Bigariou Naahin Bhaj Lae Naam Muraar ||
अजहू समझि कछु बिगरिओ नाहिनि भजि ले नामु मुरारि ॥
Understand this today - it is not yet too late! Chant and vibrate the Name of the Lord.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਜ ਮਤੁ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਉ ਭਾਖਿਓ ਤੋਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੮॥
Kahu Naanak Nij Math Saadhhan Ko Bhaakhiou Thohi Pukaar ||2||8||
कहु नानक निज मतु साधन कउ भाखिओ तोहि पुकारि ॥२॥८॥
Says Nanak, this is the subtle wisdom of the Holy Saints, which I proclaim out loud to you. ||2||8||

ਅਰਥ :ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਟਿਕਾ ਲੈ, (ਕਿ) ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ, 
(ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। 

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ) ਰੇਤ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਉਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਪੋਚ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ; ਪਰ ਉਹ ਕੰਧ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ 
ਭੀ (ਟਿਕੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ । ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਭੀ ਉਸ (ਰੇਤ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ) ਵਰਗੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! 
ਤੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ? ।੧। 

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਜੇ ਭੀ ਸਮਝ ਜਾ (ਅਜੇ) ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ; ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ । ਹੇ 
ਨਾਨਕ!  ਆਖ(ਹੇ  ਭਾਈ!)  ਮੈਂ  ਤੈ  ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ  ਦਾ  ਇਹ  ਨਿਜੀ  ਖ਼ਿਆਲ  ਪੁਕਾਰ  ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾ  ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ

ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਲ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ॥ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਰਜਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਓਢਣ ਨਾਗ ਨਿਵਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ॥ ਸੂਲ ਸੁਰਾਹੀ ਖੰਜਰੁ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਬਿੰਗ ਕਸਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਣਾ ॥ ਯਾਰੜੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਥਰੁ ਚੰਗਾ ਭੱਠ ਖੇੜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ॥੧॥੧॥

ਜਗ ਰਚਨਾ ਸਭ ਝੂਠ ਹੈ ਜਾਨਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥
The world and its affairs are totally false; know this well, my friend.

ਕਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾ ਰਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲੂ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ॥੪੯॥
Says Nanak, it is like a wall of sand; it shall not endure. ||49||

ਰਾਮੁ ਗਇਓ ਰਾਵਨੁ ਗਇਓ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
Raam Chand passed away, as did Raawan, even though he had lots of relatives.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਥਿਰੁ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੫੦॥
Says Nanak, nothing lasts forever; the world is like a dream. ||50||

ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਜੋ ਅਨਹੋਨੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
People become anxious, when something unexpected happens.

ਇਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੫੧॥
This is the way of the world, O Nanak; nothing is stable or permanent. ||51||

ਜੋ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਹੈ ਪਰੋ ਆਜੁ ਕੈ ਕਾਲਿ ॥
Whatever has been created shall be destroyed; everyone shall perish, today or tomorrow.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਲੇ ਛਾਡਿ ਸਗਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੫੨॥
O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and give up all other entanglements. ||52||
