"This is a sound made in Brazil. All the members are Brazilians.
But the goal is to show the young african music, with all his distinctions that features the origin of the black continent’s music.
In this record we launch several curious things. Starting from a rhythmic draw, based on the camel steps that match the division 4/4, on the same line of YÁ YÁ YÁ and SOUL MUSIC, which was given the name of OGA, this, because in Lagos, Nigeria’s capital, is an intimate treatment among friends. There, a man feels good when compared to a OGA (camel).
Purposely and proudly we launch this new and different LP, not only dedicated to all record collectors in the world but also to all party lovers, nights in club, and even for who’s loving, because on both sides, there aren't intervals. It’s a contagious and crazy rhythm."

This is how, in 1971, Embaixador and Maestro João Negrão described the record on his back cover. These words did not aged a bit.
We are very happy and proud to announce, 44 years later, the first 100% official reissue of this genuine work that became legendary and considered as the "Holy Grail" of Brazilian music among collectors around the world.

The record, released in Goma Gringa's “hard-cardboard paste-on” cover standard, comes with a booklet signed by the journalist Itamar Dantas - responsible for the research - that finally presents the history of Sebastião Rosa de Oliveira aka Embaixador and his band, the Tribo Massáhi. Very special highlight for the unpublished photo that reveals for the first time the band members!

This time Carhartt WIP Radio brings you music from Sahel Sounds, formed by the self titled 'Rogue Ethno Musicologist' Christopher Kirkley in 2009. Sahel Sounds started life as a blog to share field recordings and to explore regional African arts and music. Perhaps best known for the compilation "Music from Saharan Cellphones”, a collection of tracks found on cellphone memory cards across the Sahara and "La Musique Électronique Du Niger”, a record of the early recordings by Mammane Sani. Kirkley's work includes contemporary music with traditional roots, focussing on Mali, Mauritania and Nigeria, releasing tracks from Orchestre National de Mauritanie, Amanar and Alkibar Gignorto to name a few. For Carhartt WIP Radio, Christopher Kirkley has prepared an exclusive mix of the radical material from Sahel Sounds that accompanies an exihibtion in Paris called "Uchronia: The Unequivocal Interpretation of Reality“ that he has curated with the photographer Maciek Pozoga.

Arp is the solo project of Alexis Georgopoulos, a composer/artist/producer based in New York City. Inversions is the latest chapter in Arp's evolving narrative, a diverse musical sprawl that has issued sets of captivating brilliance on the likes of RVNG Intl., Mexican Summer, and Smalltown Supersound. This cassette fortuitously bridges together Arp's shapeshifting identity, from avant-koscmische tinkerer to avant-classical composer and dance-floor modulator.

"Raga for Moog & Violin" and "Flamingo" were originally created for a sound installation presented at Jack Hanley Gallery in New York City in 2014. Both tracks were composed in the same key (C minor Dorian), chosen for its ability to be heard in great lengths of time, its root in cultures from ancient Greece to India, and its link to visions of futurism, Arp's sound installation reflects and refracts themes explored by both creative studio RO/LU and filmmaker Paul Clipson. 

Using a Moog synthesizer, and featuring Nicky Mao (who records under the name Hiro Kone) on violin and piano, the mode allows the listener/visitor to focus on sound at times and plays a subliminal, sometimes barely perceptible role, at others. Analog synthesizer overtones give way to violin, moving gradually at first, then building into a cascade of sound, before receding. This process regenerates over the course of the piece, each time doing so differently.

Inversions also includes "East of the Sun, West of the Moon," a track intended for the installation that was not used in the end. Here, it refinds its original companions.
