Originally formulated in London as a performing alter-ego for fashion student and nascent singer-songwriter Moema Meade, Lady Neptune has been an ongoing work, evolving from distorted guitar dirges and lo-fi pop experiments in to its current hardcore-gabba nadir. In order to bridge this gap, however - Moe set out to create a series of cover versions, programmed on to various synths and drum machines for fun and also as a means of learning how to produce her own bonkers and empowering 4am rave tracks. The result of this early foray into hardware hijinx is The Brown Madonna - a mega cute and vibrant tribute to auld Madge and some of her more memorable 80s-90s output, done in a totally charming and bass-heavy synth-pop styling, where fun is still very much a real possibility!

It’s damn hot in the streets of Beirut. But the bazar gives good cover to those who are on the run. Peeking around corners, hiding in the sandy breezes until the dark night falls. So finally one can indulge in the more lustrous activities of life… There the glamour and dispersal awaits the ones who can afford it. Take a risk – no way we gonna hollahback. 

Samo DJ, Baba Stiltz and Tzusing came together to form this four track EP that invites you to let your mind wander to foreign territories. Take the ride and find yourself in exotic places far from here and now… but still so close.

Ociya - aka Patricia + Tin Man - Powers Of Ten

As Ociya, hardware freaks Tin Man (Johannes Auvinen) and Patricia (Max Ravitz), come together in unholy acid matrimony on a definitive double-album, Powers Of Ten.

We know both sides well. Over a prolific run of records for Acid Test and his own Global A, Auvinen has expounded upon the promise of "Nonneo" (recently named one of Resident Advisor's 2010-19: Tracks Of The Decade), unearthing new, emotional vistas from the Roland TB-303. Ravitz, meanwhile, matches Tin Man in studio ethic, establishing himself as one of North America's hardware masters on records for Ghostly and Opal Tapes.

What we couldn't have predicted is how well the parts merge. Cuts like "Ghost Moons" channel the hazy IDM legacies of the past, while "Hopeful Galaxy" mixes a plaintive Rhodes motif with a hopeful 303 line for the perfect "tears on the dance floor" cut. The track titles on Power Of Ten— a perfect melodic techno LP generously spread across two records—are celestially minded ("Gravity Knots," "Star Scraping") and indeed, the cosmic metaphor is apt or the newly-formed duo. On Powers Of Ten, Tin Man's acid lines rocket through space like brilliant, shooting stars. His signature orchestral acid moments are given the perfect backdrop, the nebula of Patricia's rich atmospherics and melodies.

The album was recorded live to 2 track in Patricia’s studio in New York, no edits.

Secretsundaze continue their quest to uncover amazing new music with the signing of exciting young Dominican artist Boundary. At just 19 years old Boundary aka Josué Suero makes music that is brimming full of ideas and influences that belie his young age.

The four track ‘Interlazados’ EP showcases Boundary’s melodic sensibilities and ear for a killer rhythm. You could listen to the tracks on this EP and be mistaken for thinking this is an artist who has maybe been lost in the throes of extended Villalobos DJ set or the deep pads of old Sun Electric records, but as an artist who is an outsider to the European dance scene, his inspiration comes from closer to home.

As Boundary explains, these comes from a fascination with video game music, his first real gateway to electronic music:

“For this EP I was interested to see if I could hit close to the feelings I have when I listen to certain video game music, how I could convey the amazing and deep storytelling in these songs. I really wanted them to feel like a ride/adventure. ‘Opticamente Avanzando’ (‘Optically Advancing’ in English) for me is like a venture into a machine that analyses a bunch of electronic music genres and it outputs as many different variations of these genres it can, each with their own little quirk/details, creating something unique in the process.”

You can definitely hear these influences in ‘Opticamente Avanzando’ which unwinds over 12 minutes of deep, mesmeric melodic, contemplative electronica with hints of '90s UK rave influences. Check the grins when the killer bassline drops halfway through!

The glossy melodies, jazzy motifs and hip-tugging bass of ‘OP.AV’ and the breakbeat house of ‘Interlazados’ channel more lo-fi, ambient house influences but all sent through that unique Boundary filter. Finally, the brain-warming, hypnagogic, tempo-changing rhythms of ‘Planos de Ausencia Casualidad’ could be the EP highlight and recalls the work of Lone and Actress.

With previous releases on LA based label Point Records and Paris’ Third Try label (Axel Boman, SFV Acid), Boundary’s emergence represents a promising prospect for the electronic music world, and ‘Interlazados’ another essential release on Secretsundaze.
