Jimmy Van M has been an integral part of Bedrock's history with many releases from the labels inception. Most recently he and Oliver Lieb teamed up to bring us their Collaborations album release in 2012 as well as his "We Are Children" track which featured on John Digweed's Structures Two CD in 2011.

Now in 2013, Jimmy Van M is back on Bedrock and this time he has teamed up with Spanish producer AFFKT and Argentinean Producer/Singer Luxor T. Jimmy Van M and Luxor T have been working for more than a year now together and currently working an album project.  Luxor T a trained musician and Jimmy´s production experience on the dancefloor is hitting the right combination for freshly unique tracks each time. AFFKT heard one of Jimmy´s new tracks feat Luxor T - Like U and liked the vocal.  When talking they agreed to try an original together with Luxor T vocals which is how Dreams came into play and rest fell into place easy with great vibes.   Working together on this project AFFKT and Jimmy Van M feed off the creativity and positive enthusiasm to make quality music, you can hear they are into it and having fun. 

The result is Dreams which is a bass driven track that builds and builds with swung percussion creating a relentless groove with Luxor T's vocal layered perfectly over it all with an almost hypnotic effect. For those who prefer the dub vibe there is stripped back version of Dreams without the vocal which features extended pads and toughened up percussion. The final piece is Lucid which is a much more heads down affair for a darker and trippier ride than Dreams which will be perfect for tougher and techier sets. All in all a quality package that should have something for everyone and as we have witnessed John Digweed successfully road testing all of them over the past few months we know they rock on the dancefloor. Modd’s ability to create compelling audio stories is only matched by his tireless work ethic. Not only is he a resident of the Do Not Sit On The Furniture club in Miami, among other residencies, he is also the founder of the Something Special & Amulanga labels. Here, he collaborates with newcomer Metanoya for a three-track Balance debut that oozes class.

There is a deep intensity within ‘Interstellar Travel’ that reminds one of classic prog acts like Chab and DJ Nukem. The chugging drums are hypnotic, thumping away like the sandworm thumper in Dune, while woodblock and xylophone melodies drift in and out like a sea breeze. Appearing from that breeze are majestic strings and a Celtic serenade that brings total satisfaction. It’s bold, beautiful, and extremely euphoric.

The warm bass on ‘It’s Gonna Be Okay’ is a thing of beauty. Even though halfway through, a bright-spirited vocal reminds us about what's good, the bass is the real teacher. It brazenly gallops and swings against the meditative drums and minor keys. Not even
the swirl of colorful pads or the strolling piano can overshadow its never-say-die attitude. It’s a timely reminder that moments pass and we’re all made of healing energy. Music to celebrate new beginnings.

‘Thoughts of Infinity’ starts conceptually big yet stays focused in its delivery. A picked, galloping bassline is pulled in every direction, accentuated by discordant effects. Yet somehow, the entropic movement remains centered, all thanks to a gently picke guitar which acts like a meditative balm. It works like magic: 
a dose of mindfulness for a chaotic mind on the verge of losing control. Another glorious winner to match any moment that needs a helping hand.

The seeds for this exciting collaboration between Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur were sown a long time ago during snatched conversations at airport terminals, online and at various shows around the world. But, their hectic schedules has meant that patience has been a necessary virtue when it came to actually finding time to work together on this new project. However, the final product – “Sad Robot” – for John Digweed’s Bedrock label has definitely been worth the wait!

This sparkling gem of a track pushes all the right buttons: a low-slung, percussive groove backbone, peppered with twisted vocal snippets and an ebb and flow of euphoric attitude that only comes from years of experience of rocking the best dancefloors around the world week in week out. With added excitement in the form of an energetic, throbbing monster of a remix by Musumeci (aka Sicilian DJ/Producer Mauro Di Martino) – this new package from Bedrock is set to fly.

Nick Warren has just recently returned from another successful tour of South America, and is currently working with production partner Jody Wisternoff on a new Way Out West album. Meanwhile, Guy Mantzur has forthcoming releases lined up on Kompakt and Lost & Found. This first meeting of musical minds for Bedrock has proved such a creative success, we can only hope they find time for more collaborations like this in the future.

Partial Press Release: The 41st release on microCastle welcomes Khen to the label for his debut EP. The young Israeli artist has been touted as one of his country's foremost electronic music talents. Undoubtedly a future global star, the long-time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur has risen to his greatest heights in 2015, with a recent release on Lost & Found Records, preceded by similarly excellent material for Sudbeat Music and Parquet Recordings. Now closing the year out on a high note, Khen makes his long awaited debut on microCastle with the 'Pollen Spreader' EP, alongside a remix from the always excellent Luca Bacchetti.

The EPs third selection and also its title cut 'Pollen Spreader' finds Khen exploring the more subversive, electronica realm of his studio repertoire. The classically styled analog production flows through a myriad of indistinct motifs and subtle musical themes, eventually converging for several poignant moments. For Khen it was a track constructed to begin a long set with, as he describes "The first thing that went through my mind with 'Pollen Spreader' was that it was set out to be a track to start a long main set with. I focused on 808 samples for a steady groove combined with Hammond chords, Rhodes and analogue synthesizers resulting in a timeless feel."

The lone interpretation of 'Pollen Spreader' is provided by Luca Bacchetti who is making his first appearance on microCastle. The Italian artist and Endless label boss now calls Barcelona, Spain home. His diverse musical tastes have shaped his storied career, and filled his discography with immaculate creations on All Day I Dream, Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings and his own Endless imprint. Luca carries inspiration from art, architecture and his world travels, all of which contribute to his ever evolving, border-less approach to production. His elegant craftsmanship has been touching the hearts and minds of electronic music lovers for years and he's turned in a splendid rendition of 'Pollen Spreader' here. While retaining the tough, analog appeal of the original Luca has created his own unforgettable designs, which come to life following a stylized first act of jangly hooks. After stripping down, the piece flows through a tension filled section of dynamic beats and new found vocal elements, before the poignant theme is unleashed for a heavenly finale. As Luca says " When I do a remix I need to get inspired and I need to find the right elements to develop my own vision, it’s a state of mind, a place which I can’t explain beyond a certain point otherwise I empty it of its content and meaning… With these 9 minutes, I hope to bring you there! " A perfect ending to the release from Luca which is sure to be one of his most sought after remixes this year. Enjoy!
