t was just another contently privileged sunny day in the musical ecosystem as people went about their business, plugging away with their daily loops and enjoying the comfort of planting and eating their colourfully abundant veg head gardens. Creeping over the horizon was a looming Covid cloud that would soon encompass the sky, like a thick blanket tucking everyone in for a year of much needed rest and rejuvenation.

With a nutrient rich turd pile childhood, some stem cell stimulation, and a loving compassionate community garden, plants can grow to be robust and healthy, sharing the fruits of their labour for the world to enjoy. As the seasons change, gustoe follows suit with a mix of audible seeds to be sowed in this years ear fields and pollinate all the sprouting minds with new thaudio bits.

The sperm whale uses echolocation and vocalization as loud as 230 decibels (re 1 µPa m) underwater. It has the largest brain on Earth, more than five times heavier than a human's. Sperm whales can live 70 years or more.

When echolocating, the sperm whale emits a directionally focused beam of broadband clicks. Clicks are generated by forcing air through a pair of phonic lips (also known as "monkey lips" or "museau de singe") at the front end of the nose, just below the blowhole. The sound then travels backwards along the length of the nose through the spermaceti organ. Most of the sound energy is then reflected off the frontal sac at the cranium and into the melon, whose lens-like structure focuses it. Some of the sound will reflect back into the spermaceti organ and back towards the front of the whale's nose, where it will be reflected through the spermaceti organ a third time. This back and forth reflection which happens on the scale of a few milliseconds creates a multi-pulse click structure. Because the interval between pulses of a sperm whale's click is related to the length of the sound producing organ, an individual whale's click is unique to that individual. However, if the whale matures and the size of the spermaceti organ increases, the tone of the whale's click will also change.[126] The lower jaw is the primary reception path for the echoes. Made this with one of my best friends last night. We have a very similar journey of self discovery thru 🎵music, and we seem to be happily syncing up at this moment in time. 

He recently lent me his keyboard while he is going thru some tuff💪 times, and i've been playing around on it a few min everyday, and it has drastically helped me in changing the story I tell my🧠self from, "I am not allowed to play on a keyboard", to, "why not have a few min of fun playing on my buddies keyboard".

So when he proposed the possibility of creating something he could share with his family at Christmas, as proof of breaking down his own mental barriers, I was excited to invest my #greese 💦 into creating something that would make a big impact in his universe. Thats what friends do ☺

So his dad used to play the flute by a river, and I used a sample from his fathers Ted Talk, the piano is him breaking thru his barriers by just playing on the keys to a meaningful Led Zeppelin break.

When true honest connections happen it is magical. The real truth of the universe. You can't deny when there is a seamless connection with people, it just works effortlessly, like two notes on a keyboard coming together creating a singular unified and harmonious frequency.

Dishonest connections work in the opposite way, where if you are stuck in your own head and are shut off with the outside world, only focusing on your reality you become a victim of your bad programming. To open up and be aware there are other perspectives and realities existing other than your own is to truly and honestly connect with the world around you and other beings that come in to your magnetic energy field. 

In this day and age it is time to focus more on the truth that is out there. Honour and appreciate those honest and natural connections that the universe provides for us. Organically we gravitate to the people that have different and complimentary perspectives. So having a wholesome and honest perspective you truly can get behind is the key to evolving as a human race.

This song was created when I had an honest and powerful intimate connection with another complimentary being. The stars aligned, our frequencies coupled and my life was filled with joy, passion and effortless ease. This fleeting moment was the magic of the universe. So much growth has blossomed from that moment in time. I will value and cherish it's riches till the day I die. Things change as all things do, and to appreciate and grow from those experiences, to perceive that valuable moment as positive is my choice and my choice alone. I am proud and happy to see the beauty and worth each relationship and "break up" brings to my life.  

Humans evolve by making mistakes and seeing a better way to operate. If we never made mistakes and didn't have obstacles to overcome we would be complacent beasts happily picking insects out of our hair and basking in the sun. Struggles and failure are what make us human, it puts us on the top of the hill. Embracing our failures and not pretending they don't exist is what will spring board us to the next level. 

I had no idea that there was so much sexual miss-conduct and dishonest un-harmonious connections existing in our world today. But I see that we had to come to this place in order to collectively understand this isn't the best way to intimately connect with others. As long as we can see the mistake our society has grown to, we can vulnerably use that fertilizer to blossom into a collective that seeks honesty and truth with others and ultimately ourselves.

I send love + light to all beings suffering through our growth. No sense dwelling on our mistakes. Forge ahead to brighter views of the world and ourselves. It's the best way to evolve and I love that we have the capability to change in an instant. It truly is a gift.

Embrace the grease that lubricates our momentum to enlightenment.

I almost don’t know where to start with this one. This is a very meaningful mix for me. There was a time in my life where I discovered songs that I connected with in a way I had never felt before. They were on repeat for many months and since that time they have always been in the back of my head as the root of my musical inspiration. Something about the tones, patterns, voices and messages that deeply and honestly connected with me. I have always been drawn to music, but there are songs that I hear and instantly I identify with them and feel an instant union that will be there till death do us part. There is no question or doubt, I love that song through and through and I identify with it as something that represents me. It is a truly magical and inspirational feeling.

This collection of songs represent an era of self discovery where I connected with myself and other like minded people. This is an unbreakable bond that will live happily ever after between me, myself and those friends. It doesn’t matter if my homie makes bad choices due to his childhood programming and ends up on the streets living a life of struggle, or if I don’t speak to a certain homie all the time. There will always be a strong and unwavering bond of love, compassion, acceptance and appreciation. I call it my chosen family. A chosen family that was born from a common love and appreciation for the same music. It is interesting how music can create those bonds. It’s a powerful thing.

Another thing about this mix is that I mostly used a style of mixing from that era where people would make “start–stop” mixtapes. If you weren’t a dj with turntables and all you had was a dual cassette player, some people made some amazing mixtapes by recording a song from one tape to another, then pausing the recording and switching tapes. A very cut and dry way of mixing based more on song selection and finding that perfect spot to change to the next song. I realized while making this mix that this style of mixing is a part of how I blend songs now. I have also been influenced by house mixing and hip hop dj’s, but that is another story.

This is the roots of my musical journey and it is perfect that I created this for the birth of my brother’s passion project, a local craft beer brewery in Vancouver that creates small one time batches and features local artists on the can of each release. It’s a beautiful concept that I really resonate with and it means a lot that my musical roots can align with the roots of his passion project. 

The brewery is called HYPHA. I helped in creating the brand and graphics. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Hypha is a singular branch in the root network of fungi. These branches are always seeking out nutrients at a really fast pace. This network also transfers nutrients to neighbouring plant life that needs it. It can also alert plant life in its vast reach of dangers. It is the underground network that binds a vegetative ecosystem together assuring it thrives. To me that is just like underground music communities. Also underground craft beer communities. It’s neat how things are associated.

You know those friends that are so close to your heart but you don't see them very often. This was the emotion behind this song. Those people that are forever your best friends, you just get along so effortlessly when you hang out. Its the comfort zone. No overthinking or trying to be anything, you just exist and share thoughts together with ease and grace.

A friend of mine who doesn't make music anymore, but still thinks about it like I do, sent me some samples to play with. We would always be dreaming of what sounds would fit together perfectly.

I don't see him very much at all right now, but whenever we are together it is so comforting and powerful. We just go about our lives plugging away like two distant stars shining brightly. Sometimes it's nice to look at that star in the distance and be filled with appreciation and admiration. I keep shining and so do they, while the world rolls on I enjoy that space between the stars and feel blessed to experience the magic of having friends like that.

As a child I spent hours by myself playing on my grandfathers Casio synthesizer. I found it fascinating how different tones played in different patterns created different feelings. I begged my mother for a saxophone but she couldn’t afford one so I got a tiny plastic dollar store one instead. She told me if I mastered the plastic one I could get the real thing. It was months until I realized that she just couldn't afford it, so I sadly hung up the plastic saxophone. In Jr High, band class was too full for me to join. Because I missed the first year I wasn’t able to join for the rest of secondary school. This made me believe fate had prevented me from ever learning music and it just wasn’t meant for me. I held this belief my whole life, all while being deeply connected to and building a life around music.

It wasn't until my grandfather passed away and left me his Casio synthesizer that I was reminded of the pure curiosity and fascination driving me this whole time. So I challenged my beliefs and started to break down the barriers I had created. My experiments with music soon began to flow more easily and I started to produce pieces I was actually proud of. I now look at my lack of traditional training as what has kept my childlike wonder alive. When I sit down to produce music it is with a curiosity and wonder with how emotions and stories can be captured in a sequence of sounds. Without holding myself back I let myself have fun and give it the gustoe💦
