Pleasure of Love is a label and party based in Los Angeles.  Founded by Dino Soccio in 2017, the label has worked internationally with artists to put out records, guest mixes, and events.  New records on the way from Universal Cave, Pau Roca/Pal Joey, and Hysteric.  Raghav Mani/Ragz is the co-founder (with Turbotito) of Naya Beat Records, an incredible new reissue label focusing rare Southeast Asian music. Patrick Billard/DJ Duckcomb is a record collector and DJ with releases on Emotional Rescue, Cultures of Soul, Mister T, and of course Pleasure of Love.  

The three of us decided to do a mix together of mostly Spanish and italo disco and dance music.  Plenty of personal edits and unreleased material forthcoming on the label as well.

AXEL H & CAO BRAVO presents: El Mundo de Quilca

Peru, a country with a rich geographic and cultural diversity, is mostly known to the international music community as the epicenter of cumbia and its psychedelic variants. Unknown to most, a handful of groups have experimented with sounds related to disco and synth-pop in the 80s that were unpopular at the time and thus have mostly been forgotten over the years. 

@axelhaxel (@kitchensessions_int), an epidemiologist and collector residing in Lima, has spent the last 6 years digging records in Quilca, a small and dusty gallery in the center of Lima with improvised vinyl stalls, as well as sourcing records from elsewhere across Peru.

Sharing a common interest to explore Peruvian "Disco" output, Axel has teamed up with @caobravo, a surgeon and well-respected record collector across Latin America, to record “El Mundo de Quilca” a vinyl-only mix of neglected and often impossible-to-find Peruvian disco gems, exploring a variety of different styles, moods, and energy levels. 

Some of the tracks in this mix will be featured in an upcoming compilation to be released in early 2023 on @buhrecords, a Peruvian label run and curated by Luis Alvarado, who has provided valuable insights into this mix.

You might know him for his cult compilations "Disco Sympathie" & Pop Sympathie" on Versatile label but he's much more than that. Relentless lawyer and digger among the diggers, he's praised by everybody for his kindness and his incomparable knowledge of vintage music. Vidal promised to deliver this mix when the dinosaurs were still on earth so well happy Alzheimer doesn't get all of us yet. He was also our first guest in our still running "La Rotonde Stalingrad" residency for a memorable party. Welcome on board Monsieur !
