"Being a fighter is not easy, really not. It's getting up in the morning, every morning, and making the bed the same way. It is to keep hours and hours in the most remote places in the country. It's sleeping 5 hours a night at best and no sleep at all at worst. To be a warrior is to learn that weapons and black coffee are your best friends.

And what to do if being a fighter is also a waste. Seeing in the story your friends going out to parties every weekend when you are at the outpost waiting for a briefing for a tour is not the most fun thing there is. And don't think I'm angry, I'm really not, I support them from the bottom of my heart... but voila, I feel like it too.

Being a fighter means keeping in touch with family, friends and your partner, even though it's really at the expense of sleeping hours, which you barely have anyway. And after a busy time on the line, you also unsave and see a message on WhatsApp from your friend and find out that she is no longer your friend. To be a warrior is to continue to function normally despite the broken heart and the constant stress you have.

'A foreigner will not understand' we always say... and it is true. A foreigner will not understand the meaning of being a warrior. A foreigner won't understand what it's like to return from a 12-hour tour and find out that the guys have organized a scary fire. It's sitting in a smoking corner with the ward after a hard day and having the laughs of life until you can hardly breathe.

It's finishing a watch on the hottest day of the year when you're all dripping with sweat, walking into a room and finishing a bottle of strawberry banana juice in five seconds... you learn to appreciate those little things. It's seeing your friend, who has already become your brother, broken and devastated and telling him that it will be okay, that everyone is here for him, and knowing that if you are in a similar situation, they are here for you too.

Being a fighter isn't easy, isn't it? But without thinking twice, it's the best thing I chose to do!"

המסע של גיא "טייני" בר: בין מדים, אבטחה וחלומות אמנותיים
===========================================
גיא נולד בשנת 1968 וצעדיו הראשונים בבגרות עוצבו על ידי שירות משמעותי של שלוש שנים בגולני, גדוד 51. בין 1987 ל-1990, הוא ספג את רוח הלחימה והחוסן של אחת מחטיבות החי"ר המובחרות בצה"ל. תקופה זו, ללא ספק, הטביעה בו חותם של אחריות, משמעת ויכולת עמידה במצבי לחץ.

שנה לאחר השחרור, ב-1991, גיא פנה לנתיב מקצועי שילווה אותו עד היום – עולם האבטחה. מסע זה, שנמשך כבר למעלה משלושה עשורים, לקח אותו דרך חברות אבטחה שונות ובמגוון תפקידים, ממאבטח פשוט ועד ראש משמרת. הוא היה שם כדי לשמור ולהגן במקומות שונים, החל מאירועים המוניים ועד למוסדות שקטים יותר.

נקודת מפנה מעניינת התרחשה ב-1994, כאשר גיא החליט לעזוב את ביתו ולצאת למסע עצמאי עד אילת. שלוש שנים, בין 1994 ל-1997, הוא חי בעיר הדרומית, תקופה שבה גילה צדדים נוספים בעצמו. בשנת 1995, הוא רכש מיומנות חדשה ומפתיעה – קורס מאסאג' אצל יהל אוריין. הכישורים החדשים לא נשארו מיותמים, ובאילת הוא שילב עבודה כמאבטח עם עיסוי בבתי מלון יוקרתיים דרך חברת "רפלקסומאסאג'". השילוב הלא שגרתי הזה בין עולם האבטחה הקשוח לבין מגע מרפא מעיד על אישיות מורכבת ורב-גונית.

ב-1997, גיא שב לביתו בנתניה והמשיך בקריירת האבטחה שלו, אך הניצוץ היצירתי שבו לא דעך. ב-1998, הוא פנה לתחום הטכנולוגיה ועשה קורס מחשבים במכללת סיוון, עם שאיפה להפוך למדריך מחשבים. למרות התשוקה החדשה, גיא נשאר נאמן לעולם האבטחה, אך המיומנויות שנרכשו בוודאי תרמו לו בהיבטים שונים של חייו.

חייו האישיים של גיא ידעו גם הם עליות ומורדות. בשנת 2000 הוא התחתן, וב-2001 נולד בנו, רועי, כיום בן 24. תקופה זו הביאה עמה גם עניין בתחום הרפואה המשלימה, וגיא החל ללמוד במכללת מדיסין. אולם, מתוך רצון שלא להחמיץ את לידת בנו, הוא הפסיק את לימודיו ולא חזר אליהם לאחר מכן, מעשה המעיד על מסירותו למשפחה ברגעים החשובים. לצערנו, שנתיים לאחר לידת בנו, נישואיו של גיא הסתיימו, ומאז הוא גרוש כבר 22 שנה. הקשר עם בנו ידע גם הוא אתגרים, ומגיל 18 אין ביניהם קשר ישיר, פרט שהוא שומר לעצמו אך מעיד על מורכבות החיים. למרות זאת, הוא משתדל לשמור על קשר כלשהו עם בנו.

במסעותיו, גיא העדיף לחקור את יופייה המגוון של ישראל, מהצפון ועד הדרום, ומצא בה ארץ מדהימה ומלאת פלאים. הוא מתאר את עצמו כאדם שלא הושפע או מושפע מאחרים, אלא בחר בדרך של הסתמכות עצמית. חלומו ושאיפתו הם להצליח בכל תחום בו הוא עוסק, והלקח המרכזי שלמד בחייו הוא לסמוך רק על עצמו – עקרון מנחה שעיצב את דרכו והוביל אותו להישגיו, ללא תלות באיש.

הוא יחזור אל העיר, ימצא את היד שתגע בו,
יספר את סיפורו, ויידע שהכל לא היה לשווא.
יבנה בית, ייטע גן, יראה את הפירות שיצמחו,
והם יהיו מתוקים יותר, כי הם מזרעו של כאב שנעצר.
הוא יבין שהצלקת אינה תבוסה, אלא ניצחון קטן של הנשמה,
שהצליחה להחזיק מעמד, לראות שמש, למצוא נחמה.

אז יקום מהחול, ידפוק את האבק מעל ראשו,
ויצעד לאיטו, אל מחר אחר, אל יום חדש.
כי לוחמים לא נשברים, הם רק מתעייפים לרגע,
הם רק מניחים את הנשק כדי לחבק את העולם שוב, בעוז ורוגע.
הם נושאים את העבר, אבל צועדים אל עתיד של שלום,
ומקווים שיום אחד, ייבנה הגשר מהזכרונות אל החלום.
