Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: NEBBIERI

NEBBIERI is a stage name of a charismatic DJ, Marita Nebieridze, whose sets are based on the synthesis of techno, electro, and breakbeat. Her music vision was inspired at an early age by artists such as Kate Bush, The Prodigy, Psychic TV, Wendy Carlos, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, and many more. The inspiration was depicted in her wonderful record collection. Later on, her enthusiasm transformed into a new initiative - aged 18, Marita eventually started DJing and throwing a regular home party series in Germany, alongside friends and like-minded people.

Since returning to Georgia, Marita debuted at HOROOM and then at BASSIANI’s queer night series HOROOM NIGHTS. Besides music, things that really inspire her are sci-fi literature and the surrounding environment and social life with its daily occurrences. Therefore, she considers DJing to be a very special responsibility, as inspired by the music and social happenings simultaneously, NEBBIERI thinks a DJ can compose and express a dramaturgically rigorous story.

Giorgi Kancheli is a Georgian producer and resident DJ at Bassiani who has been crucial in shaping the country’s club culture. Growing up in the dark and crumbling Tbilisi, in the 90’s, has greatly influenced his musical identity.
Kancheli’s professional relationship with music began with percussion and at the age of 17 he was already playing at the Tbilisi jazz festival. Soon after that, he got into electronic music and has now been an active DJ for over 15 years. In early 2010, Kancheli and his friends started the project ‘Stare at DJ’, which quickly became the main event of the country’s evolving club scene. Today, Kancheli is one of the most popular DJs in his hometown Tbilisi, headlining many major festivals in Georgia and performing at the industry’s most respected venues such as Berghain, Robert Johnson, Shelter, Dimensions or CTM Festival. Besides spinning the decks, Giorgi also writes and produces his own music. In spring 2020 his debut solo EP “Earthshaketrance” got released on Bassiani Records. Kancheli also co-runs the label Shin Records - a label focused on emerging Georgian producers

Francisco Fernandez Araya, or more succinctly and stylistically, Zisko (aliases Oksiz, Iksoz), is an Argentinian DJ whose percussive flourish has begun its campaign for community-building and beat-centric sounds worldwide. His childhood was spent learning to play the drums; watch any of his live performances nowadays and you’ll see it’s a habit he’s reluctant to give up. And why should he? Years of fixation and practice have refined his intuition and made him the force he is today and built a palpable level of trust with his growing audience. Geography plays a role here too, outside the well-traveled axis of techno that links the northern hemisphere in a criss-cross web, Latin America also has something to offer, in what he terms an ‘emotional and ancestral link to rhythm, dance and sound’. It’s plugged-in, body-focused techno that moves relentlessly like a wave of energy through a crowd. Powerful, immediate and primal. EPM.189 comes from Fossil Archive boss, R.M.K. Hailing from London, R.M.K is an exciting new project by Fossil Archive label head Roberto. It represents a faster and more intense take on his unique brand of Techno. He utilises his knowledge and past experiences, which include regularly playing at Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, as well as fabric in London, to develop his individual sound. R.M.K has distilled that experience into this 2-hr set, recorded directly from his residency at The Glove That Fits, London for the EPM series. Featuring Axel Karakasis, NØRBAK, Glaskin, Juri Heidemann, Volster, James Ruskin, Stephen Brown, Franco Rossi plus a brace of unreleased tracks from Vinicius Honorio & R.M.K himself we get a flawless mix of tough yet hypnotic swinging grooves.

During his 20+ year career in music, Roberto has formed friendships and worked in partnership with other respected artists such as Trevino (Marcus In-talex), Jamie Anderson, Robert Owens, Goldie and Nastia. Although the focus is always on the very heart of the most raucous of raves, R.M.K never shies away from groove and funk. This is conveyed in a Live Show that utilises classic hardware from the golden age of UK Rave and now here on this new mix for the EPM series.

For the next mix of Bassiani podcast series, NDRX,  the resident of the club has teamed up with Georgia's finest Newa for whom 2017 has been a defining year. The set was recorded at Bassiani as part of the 'Invited by Residents' night.

As DJs, both have a big musical range but also they share the common touchstone that makes this mix so colorful and exciting. Across a mind-bending 150 minutes NDRX and Newa offer an unpredictable, delightful and head spinning dance tunes. They are very comfortable with a diverse aesthetic so the mix contains surprising musical shifts and inventive transitions with dark, punchy textures, driving baselines and untempered thrill.

Andrew Shobeiri AKA @renewise flaunts an artistic flair rare for his years.

Possessing an uncanny ability to create a sound that fuses hip-shak-ing grooves with a raw but modern touch, Wise breeds a deep sense of knowledge and maturity beyond what you’d expect for an artist of his age. His ear for infectious rhythm derives from a love of classic 90’s era techno, always being drawn to the relentless energy felt in the faster tempos. These influences can be heard throughout his productions and selections as a DJ, winning him a growing fanbase of peers and music lovers alike.

2018 saw the UK-born DJ/producer leaving a strong impression. A dig- ital EP on Mark Broom’s Beardman imprint and his first official 12’ inch release on the highly respected Mote-Evolver, run by techno pioneer Luke Slater, gained huge reactions from the likes of Rødhad, Freddy K, Blawan and DVS1. The high level of support has continued into 2019, with white label tracks featuring in sets from Kr!z & Dustin Zahn, among others.

On the road Wise has made regular appearances at Jaded, London’s Sunday after-hours haven while his Berghain sets have undoubtedly grabbed the attention of the committed Berlin reveler. The remainder of 2019 keeps this young talent busy, with bookings spanning the UK, Europe and, South Africa with more releases set to drop across the next coming months.
