Wilton M. Guzman, also known as Gwill is a Dominican-American from the Washington Heights area of New York City. Gwill started his music career 3 years ago in a home studio set up by his brother, Uptxwn. After a few sessions in the studio and receiving positive reviews on his music, deep down inside, Gwill knew he had something special. After a year, of questioning whether to pursue his music career, Gwill overcame his fear and stepped back into the studio. Gwill’s first love prior to music was baseball. He started playing at the age of 9 and went from, little league to juniors, to high school and ultimately playing Division 1 Baseball in the NCAA for the HBCU – University of Pine Bluff Golden Lions on a scholarship. “I have been able to come through and execute for my team. Today I use the same mentally with music as I did in baseball. I am blessed to have an amazing team around me and they look to me to deliver and execute every time we complete a record”, says Gwill. Working on his debut album, “You’ll Never Understand” Gwill faced a lot of challenges especially when it came to not seeing his own potential or how good a record was. That’s where the inspiration for the title for the album came from. “Music has now become an outlet for me, I have suppressed so many feelings for years that it now allows me to express messages where I wouldn’t otherwise know how to send.”
