Newest fusion track for Swan Samba, a community drum and movement bloco based in Winchester, Hants. This groove incorporates key rhythms for Afro Samba as well as originally composed rhythmic layers and breaks to make it our own.

Afro Samba 1 - Swan Samba

'Smash & Grab' is by far the most ambient, calm and interpretational piece in the musical. Played on a Hang in an unknown Eastern minor scale (that's oh-so official, folks!), the jammed out percussion melody is backed by low synths, some of which purposefully off the ear register - more of a feeling than a sound...

This piece deserved interpretations of all sorts, so it was thrilling to have a contemporary dance piece to accompany it. Sadly the recording never quite survived on the hard drive of the computer where the majority of MR stuff was initially stored, so you'll have to just zone out on an obligatory skull/sea image instead. 

Whatever the future has in store for 'Rotters, it feels like this one may wriggle out of the confines and be used again in another, alternative capacity...

Companionship (a sketch)

My composed track for two-piece alt surf rock band. This was great fun to play live and was a cathartic piece to compose at a turbulent time.

Sample-based track ‘Hip-Hop Collapse’. This one got a good amount of coverage in the theatre run with a full dance interpretation.

Hip Hop Collapse

This is the resource guide track for fusion bloco, Swan Samba. The groove is based on the Brazilian key rhythm, 'Son Clave' but each break is originally composed and recorded in order to ensure the track as a whole bespoke to the banda. 

The track demonstrates performing on a range of percussion and the ability to produce music with a strong cultural reference point.

This was something used to signify the de ja vu of the group's journey - despite the miles and miles of making it through the broken city, nothing much has changed. 

This edited, smaller version has a clearer production and more wizardry tucked into it compared to its bigger brother. No new recording was made but instead parts were chopped, phased out, effects were added and an all-round jiggery pokery was had.

Keep Moving - reprise (from Mouldy Rotters: The Undead Musical)

Ahh, this one's a bit special... It's only a wee sketch that never made the grade - a musical b-side, if you will. But it features the lead vocals of a certain lil baby 'peach' in the home recording. Dat dat coot, as they say in the business.

This recording was later used as an example when teaching ICT Music in schools and got the same 'awww' responses. Job done. Hahaha!

We hope you enjoy this secret slice in the demo days, shortly before this musical gone and got legs and sprouted into something phenomenally ambitious and all-encompassing.
