Meet Whompus!

Whompus is a member of Newy Bass Crew and the creator of weird imagery and mixer of strange sounds. Coming from a deep love of audio in all genres of the musical world, his mixes encompass the chaotic energy that is his  brain and life. Whompus creates soundscapes with intricate layering of melodic chords partnered with deep wobbly bass lines, or bouncy funky upbeat danceable journeys, often dissonant but somehow drawing to the ear.

Nearly always incapable of staying in a lane, he crafts journeys of sound that lead one from a trance like wonder through dark swampy sounds, filled with elements of chaos, anxiety, fear, and joy. Whompus likes to combine genres, bend the rules and blur the lines between dance and journey mixing.

The past 12 months have seen him feature on Orbital Radio's Cabin Fever Sessions, and on the lineup for Newy Bass Crew's Steel City Bass, Dekonstructed's Dekonstructed Dance, Caldera & Friends' High TnB, Cabin Fever Crew's Bass Ship, Basscamp 2022, The Newy's Daydreaming, and on support for the Cabin Fever Crew, Newy Bass Crew and Particle Sound System collaboration bringing jungle and drum and bass OG, Dillinja, to Eora. He was scheduled to play at 2023's Origins of Entropy this weekend, however, the event was sadly canceled last night - big shout out to the Noesis Productions crew - sending lots of love and support.

What a 10 year musical mission it has been traveling through the multiverses of Another Psyde Dark Progressive soundscapes that set a different tone that resonates throughout the universe. The global search has been far and wide to bring you a first class showcase of producers and artists from Australia, France, Germany, Brazil, Israel, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. 

The mission statement entailed traveling through the multiverses of the dark soundscapes to Another Psyde of the moon, set up a home base and make contact with any alien civilizations, documenting the journey of what they discovered in sound. This ship was captained by label Dj’s MnemonicTrip and Whosplayn, the APR crew did not disappoint providing dark melodic twisting beautiful earworms with rumbling baselines and soundscapes that travel far and wide.
