Guun—This is the last song played at a funeral, after all the others have been done. It is meant to get all the dancers on their feet and into a dancing mood. The focus is on women and how they run around the gyil players and off into the surrounding area. It is the hottest, most intense part for the performance, where the player is expressing himself as a xylophonist. Guun is rapid-fire music, and it signals the end of the performance for that particular player. Other players will come and perform as well, from the beginning. And the more people dance, the more the deceased will rest happily.

The musicians on this recording were so damn funky I repeatedly found myself dancing at my desk for extended periods of time with very little progress on the actual remix being made! But I just about managed to fight off the funk and power on through to combine their 2 part track  'Injo' and reprise 'Injo Badingkolo' into this funky 11 minute afro-beast! Our dear friend Pierre, also known as Da Iguana delivers us a dubby/bluesy psychedelic EP, inspired by an Autumn spent in Amsterdam.

During this trip,  he explored the city, mostly by bike, enjoying its fresh wetness, headphones in the ears. Weird rhythms, electronic synths, bluesy percussions, balkanic influences and guitar were his main tools to create those 3 tracks, with an atmosphere between joy and nostalgia.

Brother Culture & Radikal Vibration - New Love [Evidence Music]

Gypsy Hill play an intoxicating mix of Balkan brass, Mediterranean surf rock, ska & swing. Featuring guitars, horns, tuba, a scratch DJ and a mix of live and electronic beats, Gypsy Hill effortlessly mix the traditional with a uniquely modern sound. 
Producers DJ Kobayashi and Herbert Newbert have taken the project from studio to stage, gradually growing the band and honing their high-energy live hows. Their burgeoning CV includes remixes for the likes of Balkan Beat Box and Al Jawala and a special feature on Ninja Tune’s acclaimed ‘Ninja Jamm’ app. On the latter appearing alongside electronic music royalty such as Coldcut, Mr Scruff, Bonobo and many more of the Ninja Tunes roster. 
Their much anticipated debut album ‘Our Routes’ hit the shelves in August 2014 and the band are touring throughout the autumn and into  spring 2015. 
A tour history that includes some of the UK and Europe’s biggest festivals (Glastonbury, Bestival, WOMAD, Sziget, Fusion, Winterthurer Musikfestwochen), Gypsy Hill are no strangers to the big stages, having played alongside some of the greats including Taraf De Haidouks.
