Afterclapp remixes the classic &ldquo;Do Mangue a Manga&rdquo; for Barbatuques.
The single will be out Sunday, Jun/06 on Gyra Records. The signature body percussive sound and folkloric instruments of the Brazilian group gained extra body with the addition of organic trap drums, mixed to thicken the track even more.
The DJ&rsquo;s admiration for the band, founded almost three decades ago, is an old affair. Afterclapp used to go to their shows in S&atilde;o Paulo since the 2000&rsquo;s, when the project was created, serving as sonic inspiration and being added to all of his sets played in Brazil and Europe.
Two years went by until the ideal sonority was found. Even with the trap beat, the music also translates soul within the original sound. Changüí is one of the most important genres in Cuba. Originating from the East Coast Guantanamo region, Baracoa's sugar refineries & enslaved African communities, it combines the rhythms of the Bantu Region of Africa with the Spanish cancion & guitar & is the predecessor of son montuno. Here we have an interesting fusion of the original Changüí sound combined with the swinging jazz horns of Cuba's 40's when there was American influences coming in from the tourism & casinos. In Leonardo's signature style, adding the bass heavy four to the floor afro-house beats to make it complete. Suas pesquisas têm base em culturas tanto ancestrais e orgânicas quanto urbanas e sintéticas, e de eletrônicos guetificados ao rock psicodélico.
