I awoke from my exhaustion in the depths of a long and arduous winter. Nature, and the people around me became suppressed. With my physical strength, and deep enthrall in my studies, I easily found the space to begin anew, in the dormancy afforded by that intense cold . . .

Monolith

Summer ended, and I was thrown out of my trance. I became grossly overstimulated and edgy. As the season went on, after a full year of constant study, I began to burn out spectacularly.

On A Hair Trigger

It was now the following summer. I had decided to attend summer classes, to mitigate liberal arts requirements between my major studies. The campus that was once sprawling became meek, silent, and lonely. It was the first time I had ever dealt with such isolation, though I had clear goals and requirements. I lived life as if in some catatonic state, and became malnourished. I became entranced by the beauty of the desolate fields, expanding almost endlessly in every possible direction.

Shimmering Plains

I began again at a neighboring university, in early 2014. However, the social and academic environment was very different, and I quickly realized that I had no sense of social restraint. Despite this, I began to hone my interests and pursuits far better than I had before. Soon, the adversity that I thought would hinder me became easy to brush off.

First To Charge

I began to weigh my options, all of which would allow me to get out of dodge. I was anxious, and very hesitant, for many personal reasons. However, as I looked around at the lives of others, I realized that few of the options I had were good ones, and each would lead to an unsustainable conclusion. In the following winter, I'd return to university.

Reflex

Magnolia was completed in summer of 2013, from a time I still don't like to speak extensively about. I had decided to switch majors and transfer schools. It was truly a year of great depression and uncertainty, among a series of familial blunders. With no aspiration to remain at home, but no immediate discourse to leave, I was locked in, like the soil between great and powerful roots . . .

My first track using Genesis hardware. It was entered in Battle of the Bit's Winter Chip XI on February 4th, 2016.

When I felt demoralized, I sought out sanctuary by walking to the shore of the Hudson River in Ossining. In order to reconcile with the uncertainties in my travels, I began to seek rivers whenever I could.

Cosmic Meteor Field (Life Force Remix)

I have never witnessed a sky so full of forms as I did during my time in Potsdam. By the time I left, all I could do was reflect on it. This song is for that vivid sky, and those who have antagonized me in its name.

This track was my participating entry in Summer Chip VI on Battle of the Bits. It scored 46th of 205 entries, and 5th out of the 12 entries in its medium.

I'm a hobby composer. My finished works are low-fidelity pieces utilizing old emulated hardware. Most of my previous work is in in 2A03, but I have branched into YM2612 and the annals of FM synthesis.
