For this first instalment in our guest mix series, we’re going eastbound with the Iaroslavl (Ярославль) based collective AnyAct.

They came under our radar thanks to @lockedclub, standard bearers (and balaclava wearers) of the recent Russian electro tidal wave. Backed by the likes of @privatepersons and @urwaxx, or the most recent @noservicesorry and @cyberjit, they leave no one uscathed in their wake.

It’s no wonder that AnyAct are delivering the same kind of all guns blazing productions. Their 4-tracker released last year blends techno with raw electro basslines, breaks and the occasional guitar riff. Their most recent single – Donald’s Dream - veers into rave territory, tapping into trancey bassline and melodies with cheeky samples from a couple of America’s most notorious troublemakers.

This guest mix sealed the deal for us and should get you covered in this time of dire need for escapism, a banging wild ride from start to finish!

Raised in Los Angeles but based in Brooklyn since 2015, Akua has spent the past five years redefining and cultivating a sound within techno that has assuredly become her own. As one of the many talented DJs that makes up the Discwoman roster, her passion for research and recontextualization in the realm of techno, has been a driving force in packing out dancefloors over 2019 - a year which took her across the globe more than ever. We caught with Akua to discuss the whirlwind and transformative year that was her 2019, being captivated by the wild energy of New York during her first summer in the city, playing mainstage at this year's Sustain-Release, and how she first fondly connected with the fast-paced, adventurous mixing style of early Jeff Mills, Colin Dale and Dave Angel. As our first mix of 2020, Truancy Volume 256 is Akua flowing at her most natural, contorting through a range of influences as she picks out cuts from Chicago and Detroit visionaries. Scan 7, Blake Blaxter, Mike Dearborn, Robert Armani, DJ Rush and Paul Johnson are all well represented here, and her recognised approach of pairing timeless classics with today's most contemporary techno producers is packaged up with her distinct toughness and trademark energy.

Unrilis is back with a heavy weight VA featuring an array of techno's most exciting and fresh talent alongside established artists including Durtysoxxx and Hollen.

Alongside label regulars such as Audiomatiques, Stiv Hey and Anthony Castaldo. The release also includes Chris Veron, Aran Burn, Rian Wood, Diego Infanzon, Giovanni Carozza, Ignacio Arfeli, Luca Marchese and Tom Laws.

A dazzling selection of artists, many of whom have previously featured on other influential labels like Respekt, We Are The Brave, AnalyticTrail, Codex, Second State, Suara and Tronic.

This nine track release touches on a variety of techno styles ranging from rave influenced cuts to clanging industrial percussion with hints of acid and bags of energy.

Suara certainly seems to be moving and shaking of recent years, combining many variants of the techno spectrum and featuring respected heads such as James Ruskin, Mark Broom, Jonas Kopp, Edit Select, DJ Rush and many more.

The honcho himself Coyu, steps out again with his third iteration of the Technostalgia series that visits yesteryear styles and sounds that have guided his journey.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the title track “Suor” that sits at a punchy 137 BPM and fires straight out the gate. The soaring bassline and always rising intensity in the atmosphere seems to have strong industrial influences too, making it an absolute steam roller of pressure and power that caught our ear as the highlight.
