Kaba & Hyas finish 2024 with a bang with the first single ‘Trop de Mal’ from their forthcoming joint project. It's a raw track with a rough, metallic sound: shuffle hats, wobble bass and incisive flow.

KABA & HYAS - TROP DE MAL

The connection between Kaba & Hyas is very natural: the ambitions of the rapper and the influences of Hyas complement each other and lead to a first draft of tracks, convincing enough to make the basis of a common project. Crossed by influences UK Garage, Acid House, Ghetto House and 2step, "Music 4 Tesla" is a high-flying project, catchy, dancing, warm and solar. Throughout the tracks, Kaba borrows incisive old school flow (like on "4daMob") but also "DMV" (overlap flow where the phrases overlap like on "Original G") and enriches the musical universe of the project, which carries in it this fever of H3 Records' sounds.

On Music 4 Tesla, vol.2 the duo push back the boundaries of their musical exploration between Rap and electronic music. While the UKG, GhettoHouse and 2step influences already here on the first album are still present, the two mischief-makers indulge in new DnB, Footwork & Juke sounds. The incisive flows are joined by more sung, almost R&B-ish vocals, juxtaposed harmoniously with the ethereal pads of Hyas' prods (10 Machines, Facts), crunchy textures (Mood 4 A Classic) and Wobble Bass straight from the other side of the Channel (Kelly). This obvious connection takes on a new dimension on "Lick It", the track featuring HiTech, the nugget trio from Detroit.

Kaba & Hyas continue their epic journey by releasing an EP of remixes from their previous project Music 4 Tesla vol. 2 released on H3 records. As club-oriented as ever, they invite DJs and producers from different countries, universes and generations.

On side A, a dub version of "Facts" plunges listeners into a quasi-psychedelic electro dub universe, thanks to progressive FX and strings from another planet, delivered by Chinese-Canadian artist Ciel (named by Mixmag as one of the producers who marked 2023).
An industrial techno version of "Kelly" by Mathis Ruffing teleports us straight to a raw club in the German capital. Powerful, electrifying sounds perfect for cracking a dancefloor in peak time.The New-York based Pouch Envy has decided to take M4T 2's outro "Coup du Sort" into a dreamy Juke/Footwork version.

On the B side, three versions of "Mood 4 a Classic", including one worthy of the finest video game soundtracks of the 90s, signed by the legend Detroit's Filthiest. DJ Co.kr ventures into a hypertrophied production inspired by Baltimore club music. While Omaar offers a sunny, positive version with South American percussive rhythms.

A haunting piano, a footwork rhythm worthy of Chicago's pioneers and a DMV flow infused with egotrip: that's the not-so-secret recipe behind ‘Magic Stick’ by the duo Kaba & Hyas, featuring the most American of French rappers, thaHomey.

On this track, the trio take us on a trip to Chicago, with the prohibition atmosphere of a jazz bar and the bounce of an electro club. While the single sounds like a tribute to the music of the Teklife label, it is first and foremost the fruit of a meeting between 3 passionate protagonists and a federative, avant-garde vision of rap and electro.

KABA & HYAS - MAGIC STICK ft. thaHomey

Kaba & Hyas poursuivent leur exploration musicale à la croisée du Rap et des musiques électroniques en annonçant leur 3e opus « Wooferz Only », un EP 7 titres qui sera délivré début Mars sur H3 Records.

Les deux comparses assoient leur club music plus que jamais, ravivant des sensations de nuits mouvementées de Detroit à Manchester, et enfoncent les marqueurs du style qu’ils se sont appropriés. Tel un MC de block party, Kaba scande des paroles incisives et nerveuses, sur les rythmiques énergiques de Hyas, évidemment au centre du jeu.

Solides sur leurs appuis, Kaba & Hyas n’ont pas hésité à explorer de nouveaux styles (Juke, Baltimore Club en s’inspirant de légendes comme DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn ou encore Rod Lee…) et à accueillir leur premier featuring français avec thaHomey sur le titre « Magic Stick ». 

Après une tournée printemps/été fournie en dates telles que les Nuits Sonores, Macki Music Festival, Ed Banger Party, le duo a enchaîné sur la saison d’hiver en participant au MaMa Festival ou encore les Transmusicales de Rennes. En peak time, nous aurons la chance de les voir performer « Wooferz Only » à La Maroquinerie lors de leur premier headline show le 10 Avril 2025.

C’est dans la continuité de cette fusion des genres qu’est né le projet Side By Side : Reprendre les codes du rap, pour créer quelque chose de nouveau. Le processus se fait en plusieurs
étapes. Pura Pura récupère des boucles mélodiques de la part de différents beatmakers (Brodinski, Milanezie, Hyas…). Il utilise ensuite cette matière première pour tailler des instrumentaux répondant aux codes des musiques électroniques, avant d’inviter des artistes à y poser leur voix. Ces artistes pourraient être le line up d’un festival organisé par Pura Pura,
représentant toute la richesse et la diversité de la scène rap, et autant de facettes de la personnalité artistique de notre producteur. On y retrouve les figures les plus intéressantes
du rap francophone d’aujourd’hui : LeDouble, Mandyspie, Kaba, Creamy G, Ricky Bishop, Sadandsolo… Ainsi que deux incursions étrangères avec Ele A, tête montante de la trap
italienne, et ALL MY COUSINS, le plus excitant des collectifs ghanéens.

La création particulièrement collaborative de cet EP se ressent à l’écoute du projet. Chaque intervenant.e, beatmakers ou artistes, y a laissé son empreinte. Pourtant, c’est bien Pura
Pura le dénominateur commun. En tant que DJ, le club fait partie intégrante de son identité musicale. Le club, il le conçoit comme un lieu festif et euphorique. Mais aussi comme un lieu
de vie, reflet d’une société hétérogène aux influences multiples. La diversité fait ainsi l’essence de ce projet où se côtoient Side By Side (côte à côte), des univers, des sensibilités et des
styles musicaux différents.
