I lost my best friend Heather last week.  We met in 9th grade and our first conversation we ever had was about music.  We were fast friends and immediately started playing music together and writing music.  I mostly played guitar and Heather sang.  She had the most beautiful, soulful voice.  I remember she would make me sing, too, and she would play guitar but I was so shy about it.  We loved music so much and would listen to everything.  It was incredible sitting in her bedroom with the stereo listening to The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, The Doors,, The Stooges, Kiss, Faces, Big Mama Thornton, Bessie Smith, Robert Johnson, BB King and so much more, feeling like we were making these incredible discoveries.  We were at each other's house all the time.  Every Saturday night was Headbanger's Ball watching parties and we would spend the days writing music.  We went to so many concerts together over the years.  It was so special.  We stayed close all this time even after she moved away and we both got normal jobs instead of the grand music career we envisioned.  I flew out to Seattle last week for the funeral, despite a paralyzing fear of flying, but so wish I had gone sooner when she used to beg me to come out so she could show me everything about the town.  I'm glad I finally went even though it was too late. 

This song is one we wrote when we were only 15 years old and I recorded it a few years ago using Cubase and added in a violin part.  She was a phenomenal lyricist and it's so fortunate to still have so much of this material.  This is for Heather.
