Encore and Calm have never been ones to shy away from their true calling and with ‘Sar Utha’ they encourage everyone to step out from the shadows and into the spotlight, where they belong. This song is for the bedroom rapper who records on their phone with a beat they picked off the internet. It’s for the person who stares in the mirror while spitting bars by their favorite recording artist but is yet to step into a cypher. It’s for the student who pens down their own verses in the back of their school notebook because they have an itch to do something great but have been told they have a ‘sickness’.
‘Sar Utha’ is a true anthem for the rapper yearning for recognition but hasn’t been able to get the stage for it. And Red Bull Spotlight is the true stage for that rapper as a talent hunt looking to discover India’s next big rap star. After 15 city qualifiers, eight rappers were shortlisted for mentor sessions and workshops in Mumbai, before a finale where the winner of Red Bull Spotlight was announced, giving them the opportunity to record their debut album in a professional studio, support to plan its release, a music video and more.
