Ok background! I made this a while ago (a year and a half maybe?)so I don't remember perfectly, but it was about a couple different things-- it was toward the end of my senior year of high school, I was super unmotivated partially because zoom school felt fake, depression, not being able to see some high school friends who live far away, etc. etc. so this was supposed to be kind of a small pick-me-up tune ⬆️🏄‍♀️also I had a crush on one of my friends & was thinking abt telling her but I ended up Not going for it on that one ! 🤠

AAAAA this one hurts!! We didn't have an in-person graduation senior year bc of covid, and I had a lot of mixed feelings about high school/how it was ending/the past 4 years, but one thing that I perceived both Vividly 🤩& Clearly 🧐 was that I probably wouldn't have made it through high school without my friends. High school is rough for everyone, lots of internal and external chaos and dissonance, self-esteem Who and Where??? But I'll treasure the time I got with friends that I love and adore and would give a Whole Kidney to, forever. (Literally everything else about high school can roll into a massive ball and condense in on itself until it becomes a black hole tho ❤️🥳🚪)

Past 4 Years

This took forEVERRRRR to finish because I couldn't figure out what to do with the beat drop 😭 I finished the first half in early summer, added the "can u" vocal edits mid-summer, and kinda poked n prodded at it until last week my brain very Suddenly & Aggressively went "ANTI-BEAT DROP!!!!!" so we went with that! It still sounds underwhelming but I like the idea so I'm gonna try to find songs that successfully implement the anti-beat drop & study them 🧐🧐 instead of studying for matrices 😶😶 jk I will study so hard this is a promise to myself r u gonna study hard YES I AM!!!!! 💪😎🧹⭐️Also! I wrote this for myself and this relationship where I wanted distance but they didn’t/it just situationally is not fully possible? I felt dumb for staying, for almost forgetting(?) how bad they hurt me & thinking “maybe it’ll be different next time, maybe they won’t hurt me next time” and then, of course, they would. They don’t even really want(?) to hurt me, it’s just what they do when they’re mad? And since I can’t even blame them, I just stopped caring about myself and my desire to feel safe/happy? That probably makes no sense at all but it was the Vibe <3

Anyway! When I was putting together a little visual screen for it I found a picture of Akira (from Devilman Crybaby— my friend recommended it to me and I watched all 10eps in a day and cried for Hours after! I love u always Z pls lmk if u have any other recs <3) and I won’t spoil it but damn he just like me fr but he’s Actually a saint??? Like he is so kind and loving but also SAVE URSELF????? I LOVE U YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS????? I will literally Rage for any protagonist that’s kind and always means well but is a little bit dumb but deserves the whole world but literally just gets fed absolute situational Garbage for no reason
