I bought this album back in the late '90s and always loved it!! Great work!

I bought it on vinyl at the Antwerp Stereophonics store back in 1997 but I now wonder why a digital version of the album is nowhere to purchase online!

We are absolutely honored to have Ruslan Mays launch and open our Anima Podcast Series. He embodies everything we look for in an DJ; A strong passion for music, and authentic performances.

A Kyiv techno DJ, now in Berlin ~

Mays is one of the first Ukrainian DJs who started playing proper techno for big crowds in the 2000s. Back then, Ukraine had only rare musical geeks who discovered the genre. So Mays helped pioneer the techno wave in Ukraine, no doubt.

Ruslan Mays in Ukraine is a resident of the “VESELKA” parties, a regular guest of the “∄” and Arsenal XXII clubs and some big festivals, including ICKPA and Povitrya. As you might have guessed, these days he is still known as a proper techno DJ who owns a fantastic masterpiece of playing. Over 20 years of experience as a vinyl playing DJ, cements him as a real guru of the techno arts.

Into The Abyss #045 | Anomali

Anomali is a producer and DJ from Gothenburg, focusing on deep and hypnotic techno.

After finding out how to make music with computers back in 1994, the path was clear. The electronic music revolution of the ‘90s provided endless inspiration, and soon he found a passion for house, techno, psytrance and drum & bass.

Making his DJ debut in 2002 helped him discover the creative feedback loop that both performing and producing music can lead to.

Following decades of honing his craft, throwing raves and DJing, in 2020 it was finally time to get serious. Deep and hypnotic techno felt just like home, combining influences from all of the incredible music he grew up with in the ‘90s with a modern approach to sound design.

With several remixes under his belt, and his debut EP released on Fur:ther Sessions, Anomali is off to a flying start. His mixes have been featured in platforms like Monument, KVLTÖ Records, Revelation of Sound, Indefinite Pitch, Charybdis and Cellar Door.

We are very happy to welcome back a familiar face and friend, the one and only Ruslan Mays returns after you may recognize him from our ’403 in PIP in PIP' event last time on the 4th of November! 

His first connection to Techno started in the late 90’s, about that time he told us the following: ‘’Record stores where at that time a big meeting places for music enthusiasts and DJs.… My feeling and connection for the music developed so deep that I was very eager to spread its influence to as many people as possible.’’

About his early days, talking about the time in Odessa, he says :’’We as friends wanted to share our taste in music through DJing, so we even formed a promo group called Alien DJs to organize our own parties. Our audience consisted of record store visitors, to whom we handed out flyers as an alternative to face control.’’  

Over 20 years of hosting events at various venues, he further pushed his craft and developed into the established artist he is today, with residencies at venues like Veselka and his own radio show, "The Real Techno Mix," which has aired for over 15 years on various Ukrainian radio stations.

For this podcast, Ruslan Mays curated a 1.5-hour mix featuring only the freshest tracks from late 2023 and 2024, filtered through his unique perspective.
