After previous appearances on Dance Petrol Records, Jonas Gottlieb joins forces with Niko Marksteiner for Munichs grooviest footwork club: Funk SV! Sharing their love for uptempo beats that just hit the spot of hard hitting beats and pure groove, the two vinyl warriors join the German imprint with their latest EP ‚First Funk! For the first half of their match of funk and techno, „Love From the Hood“ is sent into play, going strong with a ground shaking bass, funky drums, syncopated dance stabs and catchy vocals! Closing the first half, „Take That Time“ continues in similar fashion, setting focus on vocals to score the second goal of the match. After the half time break „Here We Go“ returns in full force after some pep-talk in the locker room getting even deeper for some solid defense. Saving their well deserved spot in the finals, „Another Jam“ closes the first entry of Funk SV on Dance Petrol Records with a solid 4:0 that makes you chant:

ASW Premiere: Funk SV - Another Jam [DRR021]

If we had to pick our valentine for this year, it most certainly would be David Böning, who is taking over the February episode of our podcast series. Even though he just joined one of our Loser takeovers in Munich some days ago, we have been in touch with David behind closed doors for a while. We are happy to announce an upcoming release of his on Loser Records in March! Until then enjoy this podcast as a warmup for what will come very soon.

David Böning discovered electronic music when he was 13. He immediately wanted to create and mix music on his own. Back then his favorite genre was Techno in all its facets. However, throughout the years and maybe because of some childhood influences, he discovered house music, especially from Italy, US and UK.

2023 was definitely quite a year for him. Getting a residency at Goldener Reiter in Munich, he got to play with names like COEO, Phil Evans, Johannes Albert and DJ Sommer. Same thing in Frankfurt. where he has been regularly playing at Clubs like AMP, Silbergold or Tokonoma. In his performances, he always aims a deep groove on the dance-floor, which surely transforms into an euphoric jumpy mood. 

Besides the DJ-thang David is spending a lot of time in his studio in Frankfurt making old school beats with a modern touch, and guess what, there is a bunch of music which is going to be released really really soon. 

In this Mix you can expect bumpy bass-lines, razor sharp drums and uplifting vocal chops, as well as some deep and soulful chords.
