As time goes on two things seem to get more and more common. Firstly being that we all require reliable access to the internet. Secondly, that we seem to be traveling more often as times gone by.  Both of these changes put us at an impasse, where we want: reliable, fast and safe internet access on the go. The problem with this is that we often drop security in exchange for speed and reliability.

Now I know this sounds strange, but, how much are your eyes really worth? We view websites all of the time, and for most of that someone will be paying for us to see something we otherwise wouldn't have. Of course i'm talking about adverts and our part to play as the people who digest them. A report by eMarketer was released on ad blocking in the United States. It found that nearly 70 million people will use technology to block online ads in 2016. The question comes down to should we block adverts and if not how much are our eyeballs worth to marketers.

How much are your eyeballs worth?

For those of you that want an answer straight out of the gate, it’s a no. The more in depth answer however, is a maybe – one day at least. Ofcom routinely release statistic on landline and mobile phone users. At the end of 2015 Ofcom estimated that the number of 4G mobile subscriptions was at 39.5 million. Ofcom also announced that the average number of text messages per month made per phone had dropped from 139 (2013) to 107 (2015).
