a year or two ago, some friends and I were messing around on some decks throwing various acapellas over songs, and happened to try Stormzy's 'Wiley Flow' over first four bars of Burials famed 'Archangel'. it was so catchy that I had to sit-down and make a full version, recreating the rhythm of the break w/ my own sounds and tastes, and then building from there.

I spend so much of my time taking music-making very seriously, and something like this that's a bit more fun and relaxed was a really refreshing creative change, 

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

deadliest snare ya ever heard. I've been getting 200 messages a day asking when I was going to remix Rumble and I finally caved. There were sick remixes out already and I felt like RamonPang remixing it alone would be a bit unnecessary. But there weren't enough experimental, non-danced oriented ones out there, so I decided to make something for @sidewalkboy to spice up.

Was inspired by the likes of Autechre, Mala, Bernard Parmegiani and Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement on the initial idea I sent over to Axel. Really alien sounding shit.

Sidewalk Boy and I have been music friends for about 9 years and have never collabed. This is our first ever release together. In 2022, I started playing out a lot and getting into more dance-y stuff which I love. But hanging out with Axel again in SF for the sold-out Tabula Rasa showcase at 1015 Folsom really brought me back to my abstract roots.

"Having started both songs toward the end of 2020, the two years it took to finish them have shaped these tracks into a sort of arrowhead pointing in the direction that I wish to take my music. Dance music has become something very sacred to me and I wanted to take some time to explore that space within my work, which probably feels like a bit of a departure from the space captured by EGO DEATH.

Following an album was not an easy experience for me, as self-doubt took a severe hold on my creative process. I had to unlearn a lot of things that I had come to believe about who I am as an artist, and what my creation process should be. I eventually found that life again, and these tracks are the first step in that process. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do :)"

"Insecure & Stockholm are two functional cuts inspired by the canon of UK dance music. I favored a stripped-down sound, which allows the manipulation and intentional design of negative space and low end weight. Nods were given to the characteristic sound of sampling found in UK garage, dubstep and club, while the music exists in an indeterminate point between the three."
