Shao Yanpeng известен на музыкальной сцене с 2001 года, он является ключевой фигурой на сцене электронной музыки Востока, а в Китае его неоднократно признавали лучшим электронным музыкантом страны. 4 альбома под псевдонимом Dead J принесли ему мировую известность. Шао также известен как композитор и звукорежиссер, он работает с Meng Jinghui, одним из самых влиятельных авангардных театральных режиссеров Азии, а в 2011 году был приглашен Гёте-Институтом, для создания нового саундтрека, для классического немецкого немого фильма Метрополис. Он не ограничивается рамками одного стиля, так в 2015 году он подписал контракт с легендарным немецким Tresor и свет увидел один из лучших техно-релизов прошлого года - Doppler Shift Pt.1
