Summer in Europe is slowly coming to an end and autumn is beginning to show itself in its full glory. Soon all the trees will drop their colorful leaves and thus prepare for the next winter. To musically illustrate this phase of the year we have invited @f-ondj. The artist has described the turn of the seasons in the most delicate way we can imagine. We are more than happy to welcome him on board to our Seasonal Shift series. The Alpenglühen labelhead recently proved at Parallel Festival that he is incredibly talented at narrating sonic journeys, which he did on this occasion perfectly as well.

Alfonso peacefully weaving dubby, minimal and hazy rhythms.

"This mix contains several of my current favorite minimal and techno records and also several classic gems of the genre.

For personal reasons, it was recorded at night, with the volume low on the speakers, which complicated the process a bit. It's not my most technically perfect session, but, on the other hand, the situation forced me to make a kind of blend and speech without stridency and this has built a very interesting sleepy atmosphere.

It's the music I could play nowadays at an after hour club and the way I would play it."

"Paused and luminous melodies. From the terrace, I see the winter sun gliding low, making the sea water shimmer. The scent of foam reminds me that summer is still a few months away. I don't want to rush; the downtempo sets the pace, and I like that."

Patric Kimman dives into the deeper side of ambient and experimental music in his monthly radio show on South London’s Balamii radio station (@balamii), under his alias Paduan (@padduan). He is also one of the organisers behind the Into the Universes audiovisual event series that focuses on ambient music and moving visual art in Amsterdam. This mix went a bit more into downtempo territory than his normal sonic excursions on Balamii.

EMC welcomes Nocturnal Phase

Ernesto Bellicini aka Nocturnal Phase is a sound artist and electronic music producer based in Milan. His practice ranges from the study of the surrounding sound environment in order to create sound dramaturgies; lately also using spatialized audio systems; to the production of IDM and Breakcore music that he plays in his live shows.
He released his works for Vertical Music (In collaboration with Gaia Ginevra Giorgi and Vittoria Assembri), Fango Radio Editions @user-504256706 , Opal Tapes, @thesilverywater and Soft Verse.
His works also include radio dramas that have been broadcast on radio stations such as NTS, Fango Radio and @narr-radio.
For this occasion Nocturnal Phase put together a sound collage constituted by rack instruments, samples, and field recordings collected during years.
