Don't miss this week's lecture by TOBIAS ERNY: IBOGA – Mystical Entheogen and traditional Plant medicine from Africa, recorded live at OZORA 2019, Chambok House.

Mostly unknown to the Western world, the root bark of the shrub Tabernanthe Iboga has been long considered a sacred medicine in Western Equatorial Africa. It serves as a medicine, vehicle of initiation, as a catalyst for spiritual progress and enables communication with spiritual dimensions and ancestral realms.
The pharmacological induced Near-Death-Experience causes a kind of reboot of the brain and thus supports the dissolution of old thought-patterns. Because of its unique neuropharmacological properties, Iboga is known for detoxing severe drug addiction rather quick and easy. It also gains a reputation as a powerful prototype-tool for consciousness hacking in psychotherapy as well as microdosing-lifenhancer.
This talk provides an overview of the history of Iboga in Africa and the West as well as the current state of knowledge.
Tobias Erny, coming from a chemical/pharmaceutical background and profession as a scientific glassblower in Basel, has worked with and loved the Tabernanthe Iboga shrub since 2006. After experiencing its enormous healing qualities himself, he immersed deeply into research and worked with the sacred wood. Besides helping others to witness and decode the ancient wisdom of Iboga for healing purposes as well as for psycho-spiritual discovery, he writes, talks and organises Events evolving around Ibogaine. The Hadra association was founded in Grenoble in 2001 by a group of fans of electronic music and in particular psychedelic trance. Etymologically, the “hadra” designates, in Arabic, the collective trance as it is practiced during the ceremonies of Moroccan religious brotherhoods, in particular the Issawas.

The association began from its creation to organize “psytrance parties” that gathered 300 to 400 people in the Grenoble region, in an adapted and legal framework, to allow access for all to a culture still too little known and also the meeting and exchange between the public and the local and international artists invited for the occasion.
 
In 2005, the Hadra Trance Festival was born: a unique event in terms of its organization, the values it defends, but above all by its eclectic and multidisciplinary program that mixes musicians, video artists, visual artists and performers.
 
Over the years, the festival has become the biggest celebration of Trance culture in France and is now recognized as a reference in Europe and around the world. Over the years, the festival has conquered the hearts of the ever-growing number of festival-goers.  The Hadra Trance Festival is one of the rare big international psytrance festivals to be non-profit-making: all the festival’s proceeds are reinvested in the associative project.
