“The beginning of these recordings, were made during my residency in the Noise Agency project in May 2021. There with objects found in the streets I made some instruments and sounds, Using some ambience recordings in several 6-second tape loops.
This recording consists of an improvisation of some material that I produced during the residency, most of the processes and audios were captured in a digital video camera, then transferred to several cassette tapes, and using 3 different 4-track porta studios I played these tapes, creating this improvisation and recording it again with a cell phone, and so trying once again to create a generation loss layer.”

Radio Concrete 41

New sound artwork composed during a blitz session in Studio Loos (Den Haag) by Leonie Roessler and Hagai Izenberg in November 2022.

A Mad Woman's Tale explores the surreal and often chaotic nature of daily life. Drawing on a range of everyday sounds, including a washing machine, a sewing instructional audio, and live radio sampling, the work invites the audience to immerse themselves in a world of familiar noises, creating their own interpretation of the piece.

Leonie Roessler is a composer and performer raised in Germany and the US, now based in The Hague, Netherlands. Leonie captures her environment with field recordings, which she uses for radio pieces, sound installations, and instrumental compositions. 

She runs the radio branch of Studio LOOS in The Hague. Her works have been released through Musica Dispersa (Spain/UK), and Noise á Noise (Iran) and have been physically archived in the British Library.

Guy is an artist and researcher, exploring the different materialities of magnetic recording as paths for sound's poetic and political agency.

In this radio show Dubious makes use of a tape loop as a gatherer and generator of new encounters between the different sounds. Sources being used: LP record, recorded tapes, dead tapes clicks and hums amplifies with a coil pickup.

Assaf Shatil is an interdisciplinary composer, pianist, improviser, singer/songwriter and educator based in Tel Aviv, Israel. His practice intersects sound and poetry, investigating the intricacies of performance as a liminal space imbued with aspects of ritual, contemplation, and transfigured temporality. Premieres of his work have been performed by ensembles such as Musica Nova(Israel), Israel Contemporary Players, The Jerusalem Symphony, Jack Quartet(NYC), WasteLAnd(LA), The Sound ensemble(Seattle), Ninth Planet(SF) and others. He completed his DMA in music composition at the University of California, Santa Cruz where he worked with Larry Polansky, Michelle Lou and David Evan Jones.

Special episode of Radio Concrete composer by Karmen Ponikvar.

Symphony of clicks and bleeps echoing from the voltage control studio, modulated field recordings, disembodied voices, re-mixed radio samples and cassette sounds. Through decontextualization and reconstruction, I aim to translate the environment and its natural state of disorder. Tape manipulation, tape loops and sampling techniques are used. Juxtaposing raw, unaltered material and its modulated counterparts serves to create a dynamic interplay, inviting listeners to traverse the boundaries between real and imaginary.

Radio Concrete #10

Radio Concrete #14 works with extracts and edits from field recordings, experimental music and sound tracks from movies & tv.

It starts with an edit to the famous Daisy ad - a controversial political advertisement aired on television during the 1964 United States presidential election by incumbent president Lyndon B. Johnson's campaign and takes it from there to the upcoming elections in Israel.
Other noticeable extracts include Alvin Curran, Asmus Tietchens, Tony Schwartz (life of a dog), piano tuning videos, Radiotrip, Ibrahim Kazoo (Ft.Hassank), live mixes from radio Aporee and recordings made in my studio with Tamir Lichtenberg.

Radio Concrete #15 features a live set recorded earlier this year in Berlin with Eric Bauer and Samuel Hall and myself.

Eric Bauer is working with electronics and other objects. Since 2014 the majority of sound is generated via basic synthesizer modules and extended techniques.

Samuel Hall is an Australian born, European based Improvising Percussionist.
Other materials used include a new track by Stefano Lazzari (ITA), made with 24 ping pong balls on the piano strings, then manipulated with reels, and a new recording made with Illi Adato (UK)

This session starts with a new piece called ‘spin’ recorded live. It’s a composition based on two dreidels (red one and yellow one), each of them having a different resonating pitch when thrown inside identical bowls of soups.
