Collect Beats is all about finding the magic that lies in the meditative state of mind that shrouds you when listening to carefully sampled loops and soundscapes. The handpicked contributing artists are those of who we found this kind of magic in their creations, all coming from different backgrounds but the shivers down your spine is the same. 

While we truly believe all the beatmakers in this compilation are driven by fresh attitude and forward thinking, the two sides of the album showcase the diversity in the artists’ mindscapes. We like to imagine “Side A” as the adventurer eat-it-all youngster pulling the carpet under your fit, spending his time in his stereo laboratory putting his focus on synthesizing the next thing you’ve never heard before. Then we’ve got “Side B”, the older brother that puts the effort on the capturing nostalgic atmospheres in quality that ‘they just don’t do anymore”, living side by side to the analog hiss, dazed off by old R’n’B vinyls spinning in his bedroom, a spliff in his hand, door closed.

he idea behind Collect Beats is to gather up our favorite underground beatmakers from all around the world and tie their creations together by strings of common vibes to arouse mutual inspiration and creative innovation. Making a sincere effort in pushing forward underrated talents, and exposing new listeners to the raw beauty of beatmaking.

Historically Casablanca has been known as a global melting pot; a place where cultures mingle and fuse. This quality is evident in the dazzling music of Casablanca-based beat-maker and guitarist saib., who, after EP releases on Cult Classic Records and Japan’s Introducing! label, has revealed his debut long-player, the appropriately titled Around The World album for Cold Busted. These tunes showcase saib.’s worldly vibe, tied together with his intricate guitar playing which deftly keeps up with all the styles represented on the album. Hip hop beats form the backbone as saib.’s musical palette skips from jazz flavors to lounge experiments to Asian textures … and sometimes within a single track. Highlights include the dance floor stomp of “Casablanca Funk”, “Don’t Be Lonely Tonight”’s jazzy sing-a-long groove, the kung fu beats and gentle melodies in “Shanghai Nights”, and the dreamy “In The Mountains” which highlights saib.’s exceptional guitar technique. Around The World is indeed a non-stop flight, touching down on all of saib.’s influences and predilections, creating a memorable album along the way.
