ولد الشيخ محمد صديق المنشاوي في قرية المنشأة التابعة لمحافظة سوهاج في جمهورية مصر العربية عام 1920مـ، من أسرة حملت رسالة تعليم القرآن وتحفيظه وتلاوته على عاتقها فأبوه المقريء الشيخ صديق المنشاوي الذي ذاع صيته في أنحاء مصر والوجه القبلي معلماً وقارئاً ومجوداً للقرآن .

التحق الشيخ منذ وقت مبكر من عمره بالكُتَّاب، وكان شيخه يشجعه ويتعهده بالعناية والرعاية، لِمَا لمس منه سرعة في الحفظ، وقوة في الحافظة، عِلاوة على حلاوة الصوت. ولمَّا بلغ الثامنة من العمر كان قد أتم حفظ القرآن الكريم.

تمَّ اعتماده قارئًا في الإذاعة المصرية بعد طول رفض وممانعة.

تأثر الشيخ المنشاوي بالشيخ محمد رفعت، وكان محبًا له، ومن المعجبين بصوته وتلاوته، وكان كذلك يحب الاستماع إلى أصوات كبار المقرئين الذين عاصروه.

كان الشيخ المنشاوي شديد التواضع، لين الجانب، عطوفًا على الفقراء والمساكين، محباً للخير آتياً له.

وافى الأجل الشيخ المنشاوي بعد مرض عضال ألـمَّ به، وكان ذلك عام 1969م.

وللشيخ المنشاوي تسجيل كامل للقرآن الكريم مرتلاً، وله أيضا العديد من التسجيلات في المسجد الأقصى والكويت وسوريا وليبيا، كما سجل ختمة قرآنية مجودة بالإذاعة.

Sourate Nuh (1-4) - Un appel à la guidance et à la patience.
