I recently finished a large project which had been eating up all of my studio time. I'm happy to be back to a place where I can write and post new music. I started this track quite some time ago. I thought I'd dust it off and finish it to get things rolling again. I think I ended up putting more dust on it.

Underpin

I made this track as a combination of all Tracks on my first “record” Interface. I thought to do it initially, but now 11 years later it’s succes.

The Assignment: Stop doing something you always do.

The track is based upon a percussive approach with a KORG wavedrum and has been added by an electric bass... and voice!

For this one, I chose to use no reverb.

The Assignment: Stop doing something you always do.

Step 1: Thinks of things you consider unbreakable rules when you make music. Maybe you never use a vocal, or you always use a click track, or you never remake earlier work, or you always use a specific instrument. The longer you think about these rules, the more you’ll unearth rules that you hadn’t even recognized as rules before.

Step 2: Make a list of the self-imposed rules you came up with in Step 1.

Step 3: Choose one rule from Step 2 and record a track in which you break that rule.

Tachibana Hokushi, whose real name was Tachibana Genjiro, was born in Kanazawa in 1665. Hokushi was one of Basho’s most famous students at the time, and he even accompanied the great master during part of his famous journey through the narrow roads of the North, from Kanazawa to Matsuoka.
