@echowoman808 comes from Mexico City and currently lives in Berlin. She has been playing records since the mid 90’s and producing her own tracks since 2005. Echowoman is interested in music in general and does not limit herself to just one style. She loves digging for music and finding things she likes in a wide range of genres. In the past years she has been particularly inspired by faster, much heavier rhythms like electro and  drum’n’bass as you can hear in this mix. Besides DJing/producing as Echowoman & Signal Deluxe, Valeria also runs two labels: Blaq Records & Pantamuzik (digital/vinyl).

What are moments you can think of that make you want to listen to slow, stripped down music like in your paradisco set? 

In terms of seasons, we are totally in the middle of it at the moment. Fall-Winter. We have this constant vibe of “last rays of light", the day declining and before the street lights will pop. 
This moment when you don’t see super clearly but you can still notice poetry in details.
Just before the darkness.

If there were an event where you could play the genres of music from your paradisco set, what would the setting be like?

A big building with a spacious room and huge windows, from which you can see the day light declining slowly, with some trees around and why not a wind storm. A bit dramatic, a bit cinematographic.
An endless and ephemeral landscape that can disappear if you blink your eyes.
That’s what I picture when I listen to one of the tracks in the set: Monolake (Robert Henke & Gerhard Behles) - Infinite Snow [2009]

Are there any artists in particular that inspire you when it comes to music outside of typical electronic music genres?

I have some names from the Portuguese Fado, like Amália Rodrigues, Carlos do Carmo. Or the biggest Portuguese queer icon António Variações. Luz Casal in Spain.
Also Hamlet Gonashvili called “the Voice of Georgia”, was a soloist singer in choir ensembles and and performer of traditional Georgian music. I love choirs.
Yugoslav dark wave music bands… So many to mention. Impossible to list all of them.

Towards the end of your mix you played the amazing eurodancey track by Sonique - do you often like to incorporate nostalgic tracks in your mixes? What is your relationship with eurodance and trance?

I am a nostalgic person, regarding music. I love the new stuff, because it’s important to re-invent the genres and evolve, but I witnessed the Eurodance, Trance and other movements of the 90’s, first hand. I was a teenager when all of this invaded radios, tv shows… 
Sonique and Massive Attack are both from 1998, the oldest tracks in the set.
That’s kind of a love letter to my younger self.

Alex Over continues to showcase his dynamic electronic sounds with 'The People,' a third fantastic release on his Perpetual Collective label. This new single comes hot on the heels of the first two EPs in the second half of 2021 and again confirms Over is hugely prolific while keeping quality levels high. For many years now, he has been deeply immersed in the scene as a remixer, host of the U-Turn podcast, and experimental producer who has shared stages with the likes of James Zabiela. His long-awaited debut album is scheduled for release in Summer 2022 but before that comes 'The People.' This new release has two distinctive sides: an experimental original more suited to home listening, and a club edit that caters more to DJs and dancers. 'The People' (Original Version) is a brilliantly heavy track with muscular drums stomping out the groove. Twisted synths, rugged hits and dark spoken words all add to the intensity as rave, techno, bass and more all collide thrillingly. The Club Edit has a variety of influences and a more bass-driven sound that makes it ideal for club nights. The drums will lock in any crowd while the haunting voices remain in place to inject constant dynamism. 'The People' is another superb addition to Over's ever-growing discography and one that highlights his constantly evolving style.
