A high-energy instrumental piece with a swing jazz influence, featuring a prominent walking bass line played by an upright bass. The primary melody is carried by a clarinet, often playing in a call-and-response style with a muted trumpet. A drum kit provides a consistent swing rhythm with brushes on the snare and ride cymbal. The piano contributes rhythmic chords and occasional melodic fills. The piece maintains a moderate to fast tempo throughout, with a bright and playful mood. The arrangement is relatively sparse, allowing each instrument to be clearly heard. The mixing emphasizes the clarity of each instrument, with a balanced soundstage.

A new place for their friends and like minded artists to call home, Vienna (named after the city in which they met) kicks off with a three track ode to 90's IDM and rave culture. 
Heavy on the atmospherics, opener ‘Stay Young’ weaves field recordings and background noise between primal melodies and UK breaks for an immersive and deeply ethereal cut. ‘Butterfly Walk’ takes you further into the rave, blending classic 90’s euphoria with uplifting piano chords and twisted acid synths, before Stanley’s nostalgic anthem ‘I Neva Said it’ closes out the EP by reworking a David Grant vocal over a kinetic electro beat.
Recreating all the experiences and emotions of raves gone by, but through a contemporary lens, Vienna001 offers an impressive glimpse into what’s in-store for the fledgling imprint.

PREMIERE : DJ Boring & Stanley Schmidt - Stay Young

For his new release on Nona Records Brooklyner Max Ravitz changes the formula again and delivers five spirited acid electro tracks. The EP will be out at the end of August supporting his European summer dates.

For the past several years Ravitz has been keeping up his production of house and techno music via different outfits like Inhalants, Masks, or Pulpo and most notably Patricia with his last year’s release – an epic 3LP record – ‘Several Shades of the Same Color’. His recent effort called ‘Free Lunch’ explores one of the directions presented on the album, however this time adding more color in the palette.

Continuing to tool and retool his modular synth rack, on ‘Free Lunch’ Ravitz produces energetic electro tracks that show a shift from the familiar hazy murkiness to a more present sound and almost song-like writing that introduces some more layered melodies, acid grooves and luscious pointillism. ‘Your Battery Is Leaking’ is a groovy electro track with sizzling hi-hats, grimy bass tune and a lot of acid, while ‘Consumer Recreation Services’ is a heady trip of restless arpeggios and melting synths. ‘Placeholder’ combines the ingredients of the first two tracks and ‘Early Stages of Something’ brings back the grimy bass and lively groove. Finally ‘Winnipeg’ is the perfect closer returning to layered synth melodies and syncopated bass that brings back the memory of ‘I Know The Face, But Not The Name’ from his last album.

Re:Conceive is a collection of tracks from artists living in Tiohtiá:ke:, so-called 'montréal', which is raising money for The Native Women's Shelter and The Just Solutions Clinic. It aims to activate solidarity between indigenous peoples, settlers, immigrants and refugees alike. Electronic music is a potent conduit in this process, in reclaiming space where just realities might be cultivated or imagined. With the arrival of the rising global tide of right wing politics in 'québec', and the unaddressed history and continuance of colonialism and structural white supremacy in 'canada' at large, it is high time that we reconceive of our history, our present, and our way forward.

All revenue generated by this compilation will be donated 50/50 to The Native Women's Shelter of Montréal and The Just Solutions Clinic.
