Worm (Remastered)

Half Gauge was a band formed in Rio Rancho, NM, around the spring/summer of 1998 by then teenagers Matt Orio, Charles Simpson, John Godfrey and William Wooten.  An iteration of a former lineup, the band started to take its music seriously after William Wooten stepped in to replace Will Zamora as front man and lead vocalist.  Half Gauge formulated its sound from a stream of influences individual to each member, ranging from Sepultura to Gravediggaz, from Machinehead to Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, and from Deftones to Rage Against the Machine.  

Half Gauge played locally, both headlining and by supporting many Southwestern-bred bands such as Malias, Childproof, ATF, Hate Engine, Riot Fuel and 86'd.  The band saw another lineup change as John Powell replaced John Godfrey and brought with him a more dynamic and melodic low-end to their already aggressive profile.  They soon began touring westward, touching down in the cities of El Paso, Phoenix and Los Angeles.  

By this time, the band's maturity was evident in its sound and the members began writing and performing new material for national acts that would tour through and play fests in Albuquerque, bringing the likes of Phunk Junkeez, Nothingface, Step Kings, STAIND, Toadies, Kittie, Cold and Rammstein.  The band broke up in late 2001 after recording an EP of new material later entitled 'Commit' as an ironic ribbing of sorts after Powell and Orio left to pursue other musical endeavors.  The entire 'Commit' EP has since been offered as a free download.
