C.A.N.V.A.S. is proud to announce the release of 33-69, the debut album of 33. 33-69 laments and commemorates the interruption of the simplicities, beauties and charm of mortal life in full Baroque splendour, whilst also partaking in the final opportunities for carnal pleasure and orgiastic excesses in the earthly realm.

Through their collaborative project 33, Billy Bultheel and Alexander Iezzi further consolidate a partnership which has taken many forms within a visual, artistic spectrum. Their practice envelops performance art, music and installation, whilst pinpointing, developing and elaborating the most meaningful and poignant marriages of the disciplines. Their differing backgrounds have informed the way that their long collaboration works – Bultheel with his conservatory training, and Iezzi coming from DIY punk and experimental music scenes.

Their debut album 33-69 paints a tumultuous world within which the 33 collaboration is extended to a number of other presences that pierce the stormy skies to torment, delight and enchant. Amongst them are Ivan Cheng, Steve Katona and Dylan Kerr who appear in grace as the broody clouds part to let in some light. As the light recedes, NAKED haunts amongst the shadows on 'The Knife', with an avalanche of metallic noise.

'Thomas The Obscure', with Patrick Belaga's Cello performance, introduces an element of serene, meditative calm before 'Heaven's Blade' cuts through with the ultimate rapturous frenzy. The album ends with 'Speed and Beer’, a dizzying brass-led anthem which conveys a sense of nausea and confusion, surfacing from the shadows.

Bultheel and Iezzi carry with them a wealth of composition and performance experience and skill, boasting impressive trajectories which cross each other frequently. Now based in Berlin but hailing from Belgium and Arizona respectively, have worked together for the past three years, producing musical performances that explore relationships between movement, sculpture and electronic and classical music. This complex and intricate working relationship culminates in the creation of 33-69 as a defiant debut — a dense and finely crafted work which finds unlikely pathways through which to navigate Baroque, Lieder and exuberant club through humour, dread and exaltation.

33-69 was conceived during the first Covid-19 lockdowns and documents the duo’s experiences of pandemic life in Berlin. Recreating that dopamine shot and collaborating towards a sense of community that the pandemic had suddenly folded away. The record is a short but powerful rush of emotional states and bodily desires, translated into cerebral and carnal electronic compositions of EDM, noise and techno.

Vanessa Amara returns with a new full length for Posh Isolation. Fonetica Amara is an adventurous and uncompromising addition to the body of work that is Vanessa Amara. New music from a truly singular voice in Scandinavian experimental music.

“‘Poses’ was in some weird way a return to form for us, being our first structured work since ‘You’re Welcome Here’. It was also the first music Sebastián and I worked on together after I had moved to Ireland. I don’t think we really knew how to go about having a long distance relationship, separated from the practice we had built in Copenhagen.
I only had my computer to work with and without access to the internet I was stuck with sampling from my digital collection of music. ‘Poses’ is almost solely made using the DAW; Logics pitch shifter plug-in and a quite limited source of samples. But it was inspiring to work with music like this. Having a clear compositional focus on orchestrating and organising rather than squeezing out notes from today’s mood. So without thinking much about it we’ve continued to work like this. We were working on ‘Fonetica Amara’ from October 2020 - December 2021.

I’m sitting here writing this because Posh Isolation don’t know what to think of ‘Fonetica Amara’ and have - on a friendly note - compared it to when Darkthrone released ‘Panzerfaust’.

I guess their point being a departure from trying to be genuine about making music, successfully perceived as being bulletproof serious. I want to believe there’s more nuance to seriousness and I wonder if Darkthrone wasn’t being humorous in their earlier material. The most recent Matrix film moved me to shed some secret tears. Surprisingly so. I’ve wondered why.
I recently made my first friend after moving to Ireland almost 4 years ago. I was volunteering during the West Cork Chamber Music Festival and Kevin Terry, who’s a brilliant composer based in Cork City, was down here with a couple of compositions. One night at the pub I was going on about the beauty of humour in music for a good while and Kevin summed it up perfectly by calling it self-awareness. It was that playful self-awareness that got to me while watching The Matrix: Resurrection.

Since ‘You’re Welcome Here’ we’ve been deviating from a path we might previously have started out on. More than anything we try to change, because we can’t let go of that feeling of not understanding, not knowing, not recognising.
We wish to stay curious about our voice, to not become specific, avoid exercising some kind of “disciplinary correctness” and to “want more questions than answers” (Jack Halberstam’s: The Queer Art of Failure).”

The sound is a mix of electronica, ambient, vaporwave, and dungeon synth, crafted over 2.5 years. The album features futuristic landscapes that weave nostalgia and a mysterious dungeon atmosphere.

Rab Neba has been active in the electronic underground scene since the release of his vaporwave album "チュニック - tunic EP" in 2012 and has also co-founded bands like Goodbye Porsche (shoegaze, ambient trap, established in 2014) and Tomb de Narcisse (post-punk).
