Each playlist will contain 20 tracks over the past week or so that I find compelling or drawn to in some way. Note: this is completely arbitrary and based on my personal preferences; there are tons of amazing songs released every day!

Following up his first release on Villain Recordings - the moody, growling, dark “Mitzdi”- Whynnel returns with “Murvan”. Showcasing a pervasive atmosphere of suspense and unsettlement that wouldn’t be out of place in a film noir movie. 

Whynnel’s expert manipulation of sub-bass and synths; combined with perfect side-chaining and crisp percussion hats and kicks, bring this tune to life from the depths of the sonic sea. Just as we become accustomed to following “Murvan”’s gritty squeaks and filtered piano chords down the twisting path Whynnel has created for us - it ends, and we realize we aren’t the same person as when we started.

At first it was simply a legend handed down from generation to generation: the prophecy that foretold the coming of the masked one, the one who would liberate the people of this oppressed new world from pain.

But over time, as it was passed down from the great elders to those who would follow in their footsteps, the legend spread far and wide, and local abstractions, elaborations and twists on the traditional tale were spun. Where in one valley, the masked liberator could be known for his peace, so equally in the next, he was known for his incessant fury.

And so it was in the clandestine cultures of these far flung communities that the tales of hope and wonder, fear and intrigue were sung. Finally, on the night of the ninetieth solstice since the departure of the masked wanderer, the most prominent members of the communities - shamans, wizards and knights - gathered at the holy base camp of the highest mountain in the land. Connected only through their folklore, they shared their music: their twists, abstractions and elaborations, their cultural experiences of this unifying legend. 

And on that fateful night, as the sweet music was heard, hope was restored across the land.

hoot hoot, time to start the week off right with a brand new release from our compilation! :)
today we have a track called "Hollow" by Infrared. this song introduces a unique style that we haven't really showcased yet on Night Owl Collective. it's a beautiful piece of music, portraying a dark yet inspiring vibe. the first drop has that nice future-garage sound while the second drop has more of a halftime/dubstep beat, and both parts compliment each other very well. all in all it's a great track!

be sure to keep an eye on our soundcloud, we'll be releasing 3 songs a week (Mon, Wed and Fri) for this album and there is 20 songs total.
