The song was born from the frustration of two NYC-based artists (from Melbourne and Hell’s Kitchen) surrounding the 2019-2020 Bushfire Crisis, and the Australian government’s poor response to the catastrophe. It examines the increasing tangibility of our own extinction, and the helplessness we feel in the face of it. 

The Australian Red Cross is working to provide recovery programs and emergency assistance to communities in disaster-affected areas. 100% of the proceeds from the purchase of 'Do You Want That?' will go directly towards The Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund.

We made this song between a day at my place in LA and and a day at Chaz’s spot in Oakland. This was our first time working together, I’ve been a Toro Y Moi fan for a while. His song Talamak is a longtime favorite. I listened to that one a lot when I first started Flume as a project.

Sleep

Don’t get fooled by the angry riffs in Run,  this songs has a positive thing to say; while we’re busy running away from something bad, we might miss that we’re running into something a lot better. However, getting rid of scary doomsday stories you’ve been fed in the church bench since infancy, is hard. Run is full with blink and you’ll miss them-bible references paired with small town trash imagery. That makes a lot of sense for the most personal song on an album that will be titled Drive-through Chapel.

Musically, this song might bring to mind Swedish indie darlings Broder Daniel, and a hint of Swervedriver. Some inspiration was garnered from The Chipmunks 1988 song “The Wall” to evoke the right kind of bitter sweet. The limit of how high the BPM of a Shoegaze song is aptly pushed to leave the listener with a taste of blood in their mouth. Like running too fast does.
