I often think about how I am establishing myself as an artist. Not necessarily within the world but within myself. Am I creating to my likeness, am I putting the necessary work behind the ambitions I carry in my heart, and am I putting my best foot forward when I do take the necessary steps to produce my art. Often times I am unsure, but with One Time For Your Mind I was SURE. When Mathew first came over to record in the summer of ‘21, it was the first time he came into my creative space and naturally, we came together to do what we are best at. This is the byproduct of that. Special minds came together for the final touches among them Cole Richardson and Torjørn (Beatsbytor), to both I owe both a great amount for there contributions to me and my art over the years. Erdbeeren - Strawberries. When I began writing this song this was my favorite German word that I had learned so far. I believe I made this beat back in 2020 maybe early ‘21 when I was doing my first year of college on zoom in my bedroom. At the time I had no idea what was happening with the pandemic or with life. I was just trying to make the most with what I had and trying to put what I was learning into play. Fast forward to now I am living in Berlin and still finding ways to prioritize my love for creating. It was here that I found a place to complete this creative cycle.

Erdbeeren was truly an outlet for me when I had no other way to express my heart. It’s raw, it’s vulnerable, and it’s me. My version of success is making something that truly feels like a reflection of who I am. I wear my heart on my damn sleeve and I have a lot to say because I feel so so much. I hope that you are able to resonate with me in any capacity🙏

I have always prided myself on being able to engage with the things I consume in an intentional way in order to further my own influence and craft that I engage in.

For me hip hop was something I settled into when I was looking for my own way to express myself creatively using music as my primary medium of expression. I loved jazz band and band as a kid but when I got to high school (SOTA) all of my friends were already playing instruments at extremely high levels and had seemed to settle into what was authentic to themselves. I knew I was always good with my words and good with expressing myself. . Point was, my voice was something I knew well and putting words together was a strength of mine and it allowed me to contribute musically in a meaningful way that let me play my own personal role in a room full of people who could seemingly do it all. And that was my first push into what would eventually lead me to pushing hip hop.

TK is a step towards the sound that is more like me.

Hal Warren is a young rapper from Tacoma, WA. Wiser than his years, a kid brought up in climbing gyms and music venues, and who discovered hip-hop from his brother at 15, he provides a consciousness and sincerity to his listeners. Warren's gritty and old school inspired sound is supported with lyrics that combine vivid illustration with unreserved emotions. Hal graduated from Tacoma's School of The Arts and is currently pursuing a BA in music at Pacific Lutheran University. Through the summer of ’23 Hal is studying at Humboldt Universität whilst asserting himself in the exhilarating and world class hip hop scene that is Berlin.
