In just three years, 30 year old Berlin born, bred and based artist Dehnert has gone from unknown talent to underground hero with (as revered record store Hardwax calls it) his very own ‘raw techno’ sound making waves with his own constantly excellent Fachwerk label, as well as the odd outing on hallowed imprints like Dutch outlet Clone Basement Series, as well as dub techno stable Echochord Colour, super reticent outlet MD2 and now Delsin, where he finds himself at home amongst the future music of talented cohorts Delta Funktionen, Redshape, A Made Up Sound and more.

Not only is this EP Gerry Read’s debut association with Delsin, but so too does it mark the launch of a new house-focussed series from the Dutch imprint.

Mysterious and 19 year old Read had quite the year in 2011. On Ramp sub-label Fourth Wave he unleashed a trilogy of EPs which toyed with a rough and ready house and techno template, sampling anything and everything and chucking it all together into sketchy yet essential tracks which made you feel, think AND dance.

This new four-tracker "Yeh Come Dance" feels like a natural continuation for the auspicious producer. The title track explores dusty and rusty loops of drums, vocals and wooden hits all of which are held together with a knackered jazzy glue. 'Crawlspace' on the other hand is a foggy gaggle of kicks, drums, hi-hats and cowbells coated in plenty of hiss and crackle.

'Bozza' again demonstrates Read's ability to produce something that sounds two decades old yet wholly contemporary at the same time. Chord prods here, raw hits there, jazzy motifs buried within – it’s house music designed for cosy little basements in the dead of night where 'Crooked' is more in yer face. The loops in this one are more exposed and loud in the mix, but still feel unmistakably elliptical and raw... house music never sounded more fresh.

The third man to take the baton in Delsin’s new house aligned sub-series is Helsinki's Trevor Deep Jr. The man himself states his sound is "somewhere between Detroit deepness, classic Chicago house and the moody soundscapes of Helsinki”, something backed up by the three new tracks offered here. 

Clearly a fan of analogue synthesis, opening track 'Keep On' is a gently rolling deep house groove that comes alive with a seriously heart wrenching and super soulful male vocal. In the background, well-defined drums and warm chords swell about like a warm sea, proving not only people from Detroit can make deeper than deep electronica. 

Deep but purposeful, this is house music for the cosiest of late-night dancing spaces that will no doubt bring plenty of deserving attention on Trevor Deep Jr.

Funky Minimal Deep House Mix

Terrence Dixon is the man behind sporadic production alias Population One, serving up dark and heavy, intense and ravey records for classic labels like Utensil only occasionally. As such, Delsin's re-issue arm (following on from Dan Curtin, MK and Luke Slater titles) has sought to get some of the old tracks out there once again on this double a side 10" outing with 'Midnight Hours' (first on 'Detroit : Beyond The Third Wave' LP from 1996) and 'Two Sides To Every Story' (from an EP of the same name on Metroplex, also in 1996).

'Midnight Hours' bangs hard and fast with an unhinged melody line squirming about like an untethered hose. Every surface is frayed and rusted, frosty and splintered making this some of the most primeval warehouse techno you will likely have heard for a while.

'Two Sides To Every Story' is just as tough and unruly, with myriad synthesized sounds rushing about in side a framework of incessant hi hats and solid kicks like a bee trapped in a bottle. A controlled frenzy, you might say, but certainly the sort of abrasive and arresting techno that works perfectly in the darkest of basements.

Fachwerk boss and dubby techno don Mike Dehnert steps away from his usual home for a new EP on Delsin entitled ‘Umgangston’. It’s not his first time on the label following last year’s Fachwerk album, but it does see him cast his sonic net a little further afield.

‘Andruck’ swings back and forth on a squelchy synth hook as tin foil hi hats cut up long thin pads. Knocking bell sounds add plenty of silvery colours to the dubby bass below, and it’s one of the more serene and beautiful Dehnert cuts of recent times.

‘Tracer’ is much sterner, with huge Basic Channel dub waves breaking beneath scratchy synths and acid bleeps. Fizzing and fine grain like warm white noise, it’s for those more intense dancefloor moments.

‘Refillable’ finds Mike in full on rave mode with filters twisting and turning and skewing synths into weird patterns as hi hat ringlets race between sandy claps and a tortured vocal yelps out every so often. Rushy and racy, it’s underpinned with a walloping kick drum where closer ‘Umgangston’ is about knife-edge intensity, cantering kick drums and wild, freeform synth lines.

Seemingly a touch untethered from his usual basement dub techno aesthetic, Mike Dehnert might surprise you with this one.

Sawlin's debut EP on Delsin off shoot Ann Aimee went down so well it only made sense to have him craft another. 'Eviment' is that EP, made up of three more deep and subterranean techno cuts that play with plenty of textures.

Title track 'Eviment' is a tortured and paranoid offering that has a nagging vocal stretched out over splashy claps and a foreboding bottom end thud. It's vast and dark, spare and haunting where 'Kretze' is a bigger and bolder track. The analogue percussion and serrated lines all sound old and aged as they mark out a scraping, dystopian vision of a world well away from here.

'Sour Tear' has a more syncopated, techno-funk groove but is still padded out with plenty of dubby undercurrents. Sawlin's percussion sounds are wholly non standard, from clanking metal to twanging strings, everything sounds like a real world sound, which makes his music as arresting as anyone's, despite being made firmly for the techno backroom.

Delsin’s house series is back once again, this time with mysterious producer Low Jack about who very little is known. He has released but one EP so far, an EP that was both ballsy and techno and deeper and mid tempo. His Free Pyjamas EP is house, of course, but thick, dense, gauzy textures fill every inch of the airwaves throughout.

The title track is a big barrelling loop of warehouse music that has rattling drum fills, muffled r&b vocals and plenty of noise in its heart. And flipping to the bside, ‘LJs Jam’ is even more fucked up, with harsh, raw drums hidden under layers of dust, static and hiss. Various synths add some ethereal light to the backdrop and a vocal struggles to be heard in the midst of all the chaos.

Finally, 'The White Towel' is a crunchy groove, with melancholic melodies dampening down the sonic destruction all around. Light yet dark, heavy yet groovy, it closes out a wholly arresting EP from this little known talent.

Still fresh from his debut full length Traces last year, Delta Dunktionen is back with his first EP of the year. As well a new track, it features a special Karenn remix of ‘Onkalo’, a track previously released on Traces, as well as ‘Challenger’ from the same album.

The first original is ‘Sun Storm’ with its tumbling Chicago drums, chattering claps and sci-fi swirls all adding up to something that’s as heady as it is futuristic. ‘Challenger’ – previously cd/digi only - on the other hand sounds like a much more calm and serene trip through the cosmos, with slowed electro stylings and plenty of occult details coming over like the soundtrack to a film as much as a darkened dancefloor.

Uncompromising techno pair Blawan and Pariah a.k.a. Karenn turns in an unsurprisingly brutish version of ‘Onkalo’ that spits and skips through industrial drums, fizzing machine noises and sombre horn sounds. Evil!

Delsin is proud to announce that we are working with Will & Ink, a new label and production duo of the same name. Well, they aren’t really new, because individually Will & Ink are Dutchmen with many musical projects to their names. 

This new project, however, is something different. When Will & Ink got together for the first time they had a gut feeling that they could add something new to the techno world. This is why their raw and pounding sound is brought to life through custom-built hardware, which you can see in action during their unique live sets. 

Now those first tracks get an official release in the form of this three track Fermat EP. The opening track, First Fermat is a well swung, cantering techno groove with swinging hi hats and the sandiest of hits peeling off the top. The percussion and metallic rattles sound like nothing else and all in all it’s one of the most infectious warehouse styled tracks you are likely to hear. 

Second Fermat recalls the releases of Fachwerk and is built on the same bubbly, grip-y drums and clattering rhythm sections, but this time a dark, filtered vocal lurks in the middle to add an element of intensity and paranoia amongst the spangled synths.

Finally, Third Fermat is a little more stripped back. The textures are still sandy and rough edged, the beats still seem to lean into a stiff wind but here the hook is a frazzled, blistered little synth which tears up the middle of the track, hypnotising as it goes. This EP marks quite the debut for a pair that has many more special techno treats up their sleeves for the coming months, both in the studio and live arena.
