SMITHSONIAN at 8 is throwing the craziest sound party ever—a night where the guests make the music, and the audio archives of the Smithsonian provide the inspiration. We’ve uploaded some amazing audio files to SoundCloud and they’re ready and waiting to be combined into whatever your musical imagination can come up with.
Maybe you’ll grab a sound of nature from the Encyclopedia of Life archives (how about some insect back-up singers?), a selection from the Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory collection that translates cosmic X-rays into a haunting piano solo, or a freewheeling Dizzy Gillespie riff from the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Blend them together or add them to your own compositions or performance tracks and then upload your remix to SoundCloud.
