We're not even close to recovering from the sonic assault of Technique's twentieth-anniversary 'Remix LP' but the follow-up strike is already upon us. We've seen classics from the back cat get the treatment from the likes of A.M.C, Bladerunner, Marky and Digital, but now it's all about looking to the future. With ten brand new killer tunes, the Technique Recordings gang are already setting a benchmark for 2020.

And, judging by this album, the picture of what's to come is multi-hued and multi-faceted.

The break-focused future-jungle tear-out of Drumsound & Bassline Smith's 'Ruffneck Soldier' – already a tried and tested deejay weapon on dub – sits alongside the cinematic expanse of L Plus's 'The Planet' and the controlled aggression of NC-17 and Exile's 'War'.

As if to emphasise the variety, No Concept's Kerizma-laced 'Electrify' rubs shoulders with Tantrum Desire and Youngman's 'Precision', offering us a horror-influenced stomper and a soul-meets-staccato dancefloor workout respectively. And that's before we even get into the contribution from DJSS, 'Only Get Better', blending subtlety and savagery in equal measure.

This is Technique's 2020 vision, setting out a blueprint for the type of beat and bassline science that's going to be lighting up drum 'n' bass dancefloors over the coming months. Building on the hard-earned legacy of twenty years in the business, their next two decades in the top tier start right here. Essential.

It's time for some veteran business on Technique Recordings. We've already seen T-Phonic dropping bombs on the label with his almighty team-ups with Deadman (now operating under the name Al Storm), and, of course, Sense's name will be familiar to all real heads. Whether you know him from his long-standing Moondance residency, his huge collabs with the likes of Peshay and J Majik or his heavyweight solo back cat, it's clear he brings some serious pedigree to the table.

So, what's the story here?

The first track is called 'Junglist Murderer' and, seemingly, it does exactly what the title suggests. We're thrown headlong into a landscape of rave stabs, manipulated breaks and ragga vocals. But that's just the intro. With an OJ's ear for twisting up styles and patterns, T-Phonic and Sense build to a drop which presents a whole different angle.

The gut-rupturing two-step drums and insistently grinding bass, punctuated and accentuated by masterful break-deployment connect the foundational elements of junglism directly to today's DnB dancefloors.

Then, 'Vanished Without a Trace' displays a whole other facet to T-Phonic and Sense's style. Cinematic layers of warm and enveloping synth-work paint an epic sci-fi setting, supplemented by the eponymous dialogue sample. We're in a world of huge, rising, hopeful chords, but with an insidious note of darkness and danger just under the surface.

The pounding savagery of the drop punches a hole straight through whatever gentle and comforting warmth there might have been in the intro's harmonies. Now we're down to business with explosive drums and shuddering low-end, and paranoid rising tones keeping the tension at heart-troubling levels. T-Phonic and Sense aren't close to being done there, though. They've saved some of their most twisted modulations for the second drop, making this a versatile weapon for creative deejays.

There's a combination of styles here, as junglist influences meld with modern dancefloor DnB. T-Phonic and Sense have delivered two tunes that are going to find a place in sets across the drum 'n' bass scene and beyond. Unmissable.

Having already released on Ram Records under his Fascad alias, through their Ram Rave series, their last annual compilation and through the sister-label Program as part of its seminal 100th release, he returns alongside Ignescent label owner Deen Pride but under a different pseudonym. ‘Focusfire’ was one of Fascad’s tracks which saw the producer gain international recognition and it's also the duo’s new artist title, which their brand new EP forthcoming on Program will fall under, whilst they maintain the dancefloor infected talent which caught the imprint’s attention.

The frenzied drum work throughout ‘New Order’ sets the levels for the EP whilst growling patches of bass maintains the momentum for ‘Cracked Up'. Sculpted grooves punctuate the mix of ‘Nonverbal’, meanwhile ‘Catacombs’ and ‘W.I.S.Y’ continue with the EP’s hectic intensity. With Focusfire now taking the wheel, it’s once again time to get with the Program - this time concentrating on its nastier sounds.

Hamilton might seem like a relatively new name on the block to some, but this versatile and talented producer has been writing, producing & djing electronic music for over 15 years. Having conquered several genres and worked as an international DJ for a decade and a half, the next step in Hamilton’s story was after sending some of his D&B tracks to Ram boss Andy C. 

Signing exclusively to Ram in 2009, ‘Soundboy’ was one of the stand out tracks featured on Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 5’ compilation, while the VIP version tore apart clubs from London to Lisbon. Last year’s ‘Brainstorm’ / ‘Echoes’ set Hamilton apart as one of the hottest producers the drum & bass scene has to offer leading to remixes for the likes of Blackout, Hyper, Jasper Forks and Enter Shikari. It comes as no surprise then that "Deep In My Heart / Rich Kids", his latest single for Ram Records, contains an undeniably epic pair of tracks that are filled with all the hallmarks you’d expect from a producer of Hamilton’s calibre. Throughout this time Hamilton has been smashing the clubs across the world demonstrating his impressive skills behind the decks, culminating in being chosen to mix the 'Ram Records Drum & Bass Annual 2011' compilation.
