Today’s episode of LGWS is a bit more serious than the previous ones (though I guess the last one did talk about war and the Spanish flu...). Today, Travis and Paul Banks talk about Ryan Leaf’s story from being drafted just after Peyton Manning in the 1998 NFL Draft, to how his NFL career flamed out, to his addiction to pain medications and how he has worked away from his addiction and speaking throughout the country. Earlier in the year, Paul had the chance to interview Leaf, and most of that is discussed in this podcast, so we hope you listen in.

In the last LGWS episode of 2018, Travis and Paul get their inspiration from The Dollop and talk about the most interesting man in Major League Baseball, The Rube Waddell. A baseball player who some would argue was better than Cy Young, but had a short career thanks to some of his shenanigans. We hope you listen in.

It was the last day of the season for Manchester United as they were set for their match with AFC Bournemouth. A huge win, and a Manchester City loss, could propel them to finish in the Top 4 of the Premier League, giving them a place in the Champions League. But a suspicious device was found in Old Trafford, leading to an evacuation and a rare postponement for Man U. 

Sure enough, our friend, Paul Banks of the SportsBank.net was actually in attendance. Today’s LGWS podcast is a unique one where Paul gets to share his first hand experience as the stadium was evacuated and the drama that ensued afterwards. It’s going to be a cold few days in the Midwest (or warm if you’re on the west coast like me), so why do you cuddle up next to the fire, add some more marshmallows to your hot chocolate, and listen in to this fascinating story.

LGWS #8: 2016 Manchester United Bomb Scare

Sometimes, your team just has a bad season. Other times, a team can be really bad that it's head scratching. And other teams, a team is so bad that it leads to questions and uncovers a scandal underneath, and that's what today's episode is about. Travis and Paul talk about the 1994-95 Northwestern Basketball team, a team that went 5-22, and how two of their players ended up being arrested for fraud after it was discovered that they were purposefully trying to lose by more points in order to beat the spread for that game. It's a short podcast, so Paul throws in an extra Northwestern story at the end that you'll want to listen to.

Additionally, it seems like some connection issues led to Paul sounding like he was using auto-tune. Unfortunately, we were not able to fix it for this podcast, but the issue doesn't last too long both times.
