So this is the first time I've recorded an improv track on a digital. It's different because you don't get that bending of the air in the room and so on and so forth. I'm playing in headphones, but the reverb/ambience is set pretty high so if I just drift off a little I'm also playing a never-out-of-tune Yamaha CFX in some dreamy auditorium. So, best of both worlds. It gets there in the end. I've been working on pretty different stuff lately so hopefully this isn't the same same of my usual stuff.
Recorded on Yamaha CP88 Stage Piano so it's super digital, I'm usually doing stuff live on either Yamaha G2E or Steinway D lo-fi in a room. So much cleaning than usual. Also, CONGRATS FIRST UPLOAD IN 6 YEARS.

After digital piano in a motel room this is very analogue... Steinway D and an iPhone 6. The gist of this is to stand my ground even if I feel like playing is an imposition. So you’ll hear the background noise of the house. Does the Eiffel Tower sway in the wind? Would be the alternative title. But it’s a Steinway D, I had to wait for the bass to decay. 1’26”........................... some of this is pretty ordinary playing but the point is to exist in the first place.

031021 - Karmic Battle to the Death

Yesterday someone told me I was reading the terms and conditions, not the actual content. It was an analogy - I was bringing out the "wrong" melody in a section of Prokofiev. It was a piano reduction of orchestration. I play what jumps out at me, but when I re-listened to the orchestra, well, ok, yep, whoops. So. Where's the melody? I kinda go there in this one. But also, completely don't.

Had just done rehab for a LH wrist injury after falling off my bike, so was trying to make up for lost ground. I like the idiosyncracies of not being fully use to my LH function again :) Recorded on Yamaha CP-88 digital piano. They ain't half bad eh!
