LAWLESS LOCAL HEROES

a bunch of lawless local heroes
tasted liquor that they just brewed
the one with a straw hat and a long white beard
stood up and spit out tobacco he just chewed

“this batch is good, it’s damn fine,
stow the trunk with this shine
and get it on the road
lets sell this whole load”
when they started long ago
it was still legal you know
now they need to run
and wear a gun


the young runner parked his car out front
a Ford with a Caddy under the hood
they filled this large trunk with twenty cases
his engine roared the way it should

hit the gas, drove country roads
like with countless other loads
never too late
delivering the freight
passed a fork, he passed a bridge
still in time to make the switch
then he passed the crops
but didn’t spot the cops

they’re on his tail the chase began
worked out a new game plan
made another turn
enough fuel to burn
when it seemed he got away
and had enough for one day
saw the road was blocked
but he wasn’t shocked

took a spin and made a turn
one that you just can´t learn
he escaped arrest
because he is the best
the cops who let him slip away
had to wait another day
to get him behind bars
they needed faster cars

A NEVER ENDING STORM

like a never ending storm
the quarrels re-appear,
this black cloud never makes things clear

the strangest one of us is me
but don't call me two faced
it all seems such a waste
don't need to justify my lack of taste

in the morning I am with you
but the evening brings the storm again
and at night when I kiss you
I know we'll make it, we surely can
and giving it one, give it one more try

see the moon shining through the clouds
but it still ain’t the sun
oh when will the morning come

many times I've walked alone
but one and one makes two
I'm pretty sure they do
you're still the greatest girl I ever knew

in the morning I am with you

the early sun does rise
from the shadow to the meadow
and unfolds our eyes
we're entwined and found peace of mind

A never ending storm

This is the result of a team effort by Aldo Adema and me (aka TumbleTown). We took part in a metal mixing/arranging contest on recordingreview.com and finished 3rd place. We won a cool ADK microphone!
Additional guitar and mixing/production have been done by Aldo, vocals and lyrics are by me.

Han Uil is a Dutch musician and record producer for his solo albums. He is best known as as composer/vocalist/guitarist for TumbleTown (a collaboration with Aldo Adema and Erik Laan) and as frontman for the bands Antares and Seven Day Hunt.
