Following the "Materia" EP in collaboration with Circuit 900 released on our label last year and followed by an EP of remixes few months after, we're very pleased to welcome again the Norwegian producer Soldal, member of the KOSO CLUB family, alongside Tokyo-based producer T5UMUT5UMU, who been released on labels such as Knightwerk, Loveless Records and FunctionLab.

Comastasis (he/him) is a producer and DJ based in Helsinki, Finland who manipulates an incessant flow of sound stimuli and sonic violence bursts in the shape of abstract post-club outings, influenced by grime and industrial music. After hosting “Stagnant” paynomindtous.bandcamp.com/track/comastasis-stagnant, one of his many remarkable tracks, inside our 2020 mammoth v/a compilation “WE NEVER WILL”, we are so glad to present you his latest work which furthers the producer’s investigations into heavily rhythmic, unsettling experimental music: Ross 308 EP.

Named after the proprietary commercial name of a particular breed of chicken, bred for life in atrociously overcrowded warehouses to grow as fast as possible (thereby often incurring dramatic health conditions leading to organ and bone failure) so to maximize profits of the corporate machine, the release revolves around the feeling of melancholy and world-weariness which, in the case of factory farming, has been condensed into a single physical representation in a time and space. The sound palette used by Comastasis captures the anguish and the stench exhaling from the slaughterhouses and constricts it into music. A perpetual swarm of stress-drenched flesh turned inside-out washing over you; a passing swirl of tendons snapping at the root of your ear with ASMR-like quality and putting you in intimate contact with agony and embedding you in their misery.

Ross 308 EP is composed of three original tracks and features remixes by the Finnish multidisciplinary artist @exmantera, and by the singer, poet, artist, and music producer @yikii, based in China. While the former provides a both rusty and sharp, clangy re-interpretation of the eponymous opening track which manages to even turn the knife in the wound, the latter offers an eerie re-interpretation of the Fermented Biomass composition in the form of an eerie industrial ballad, a dark, sneering lullaby for dismembered and mangled limbs.

With a recent appearance on TraTraTrax's excellent 'no pare, sigue sigue' compilation, DJ SOSA RD returns with a new EP, 'Island Boy With Internet'. The self-released three-tracker varies in speed and style, aiming to channel the rage in a playful and exciting way. On the track 'key-tee-poe', DJ SOSA RD experiments with a push-and-pull style that entices you in with an old school jungle rhythm before dialling down the tempo as a haunting melody comes into view. 

Speaking about the release, DJ SOSA RD says, "breakcore and Jungle seemed like obvious choices for the next sounds I wanted to play with. Intense, physical, playful, built on sampling, clad with bass, and stemming from a long tradition of counter-culture. These sounds melded perfectly with dembow’s aesthetic and spirit, which is present in the samples used in the EP."

After three years, UrbnMowgli resurfaces with his EP on his own imprint, Emotional Voyage. With ‘Ancient Knowledge Transmission’ [EVR014] he fuses cascading drum machine rhythms with rapid-fire basslines, acidic sequences, whimsical leads and chopped sample bits to create otherworldly rave relics. A solid blend from video game characteristics to shaking club rhythms.

The four-track EP drifts between moody Lynchian atmospheres and menacing beat drops. More than tracks, these are playful yet meticulous journeys, sculpted with wide spatial depth, teleporting the listener into futuristic electro breakbeat. This production definitely got all dust off the synths and shows once more his versatility of UrbnMowgli’s hybrid approach inviting you into a realm of internal imagery.
