The Indifference (Preview)

This is the "From Rivers to Arches" split EP I released with my friend joebryant. It's a collection of acoustic songs we put together (including a couple covers) which branches the gap between our two different styles. I hope you enjoy!

Drug Dealer (Anthony Green Cover)

This is a new song I wrote for the split EP. It's a little different from what I usually write, as it stands out from the conceptual content I usually stick to.

If you believe it's there, 
then how could you deny the fact 
that I'm unaware. 
So hit me with a spotlight-- 
As the beam strikes me, 
I don't find it convincing. 
"Rehearse a little longer 
and then lose my number." 

And leave my arrogance 
dead or dying in the back lot, 
with a way to apprehend 
the object of your heartthrob. 
Back in the 1990's, 
I found the prospect frightening 
to wait a little longer 
just to sate my hunger. 

And don't tell me that's okay, 
if you say it the right way. 
But I'm sure you'd all, 
you'd all sing along. 
And I'm sure you'd call 
just to tell me I was wrong. 

There's something stagnant in the air, 
or maybe it's the airwaves? 
The chemistry is there, 
but dignity is absent. 
So let the art lose focus, 
what pays at the moment 
sets the standard for a faulty pattern. 

Don't replicate what you can't contain, 
if you signed your name 
was it all in vain? 

So cue the applause, please, 
because they're not listening. 
Simply accepting the fact 
that I'm here to get paid. 
So can I get paid? 
Yeah, can I get paid? 
You can hear them say, 
"The path is not yours to stray."

A Path To Stray

This is an older song I re-tracked for the split. It was one of the first songs I wrote for the "Illusionary" concept. As the main character adjusts to life within a gated police state, he illustrates the burden this puts upon the human psyche.

Maybe it's not the way you speak 
that makes you so vulnerable. 
Maybe it's the whispers in your ear, 
the backwards motives. 

And you cut me low with those gestures. 
They're just bastard remarks to make your pleasure. 
But I must confess 
that mirror plated smile does impress. 

Where do we draw the line this time, 
when the walls that they place don't feel outside? 
Well I'll make my own reservation, 
so keep it in mind. 
Perhaps I should erase you... 
No, no, no, I can't decide. 

Indentations of all these roots, 
shorted out wires and more dead ends. 
Well maybe it's the signals that disappear, 
the endless current. 

And these killers laid me in the quicksand, 
well there couldn't be a more deserving man. 
But I must address: 
Why are we stepping through the mirror 
when all that I love is on this side? 
Maybe I could never see it clearer, 
with all the taunting thoughts that haunt my mind. 

The systematic selfish mortal sense of time, 
well it moves through your head, 
it fucks with your head. 
And those scales that you hold don't convince the equilibrium, 
but now that you're here, let's discuss how we feel. 

Where do we draw the line this time, 
when the walls that they place don't feel outside?

so keep it in mind.

Convincing The Bridges

I wrote this track as a demo for a new project separate from Hands Never Sleep. Got tired of sitting on this one, so I figured I'd share.

Pretend you're above the common sense of knowing when you're wrong
Just like any tragic hero, misled, exposing all your flaws.
