Handy Records returns for round two with another obscure electro flavoured EP. This time from the illusive, East London dwelling; Adam Curtain. Known for his own imprint ‘Troublemaker’ and his analogue heavy productions which dance between broken electro, huge sound design and cheeky melodies and rhythms. We are excited to have him up next with his offering for Handy Records. Teaming up with ‘UTTU’ Club’s very own DJ Haus for the remix duties this time round, it’s sounding rather naughty.

This album was written by me with the help of the program to share the warm sound with the notes of my beloved Italo disco - to warm hearts, trigger the production of dopamine in listeners and make them dance.

I was born in Central part of Russia, i’m smalltownboy , my musical interests has been shaped by Saint-Petersburg city, when I imigrated in 2014 to Saint-P, the world inside me turned upside down, once I came to a party at a famous place on Konyushennaya Square, it was called Dancehall(TANCPLOSHYADKA). I’m an ordinary “hilly billy” boy, I visited a party , where I first felt like a person who really lives in Europe, there was a warm August evening wind, fires were burning in iron barrels, there was a smell of fresh pineapples everywhere, sea ribbons of different colors were stretched on the top, and music was - a break of the soul - from warm funk and italo disco - to swinging electro, girls in wide pants walked everywhere, summing up - I want to say - at that moment I rethought everything that I had seen and heard before and understood the real value of this music

PREMIERE: Orchid - UK Kindergarten (Manuel Sahagun Remix) [U're Guay Records]

Number nine of Funnuvojere’s catalogue is signed by label founder Massimiliano Pagliara, and comes as a collaboration with CockTail d’Amore resident Luigi Di Venere. Banana Moon is the name of their duo, an acronym born on a summer night walk in the south of Italy, hinting as well to the legendary 1970s Florentine Rock Club. Delphinium Blue is the title of this debut EP. A flower favoured by Derek Jarman, it evokes feelings of joy and warmth, urging us to open to new experiences. The Italo proto-house Tie Me Up sounds like a demand. An unorthodox arpeggio drives the slinky rhythm, crowded by luxurious vocals flared by cheeky claps.
Breaks, a funky bass and a joyous organ characterize the Chicago neoclassic Full Service, making us the wish for a crowded dance floor under the light of the moon.
On the flip the tittle track Delphinium Blue (Kabuki Mix) is a theatre of sounds inspired by Detroit techno, a genre much esteemed by Banana Moon. This track evokes a sweaty warehouse on fire with hedonistic pleasures. A proud nightingale discusses harmony with a 303 while exquisitely crafted drum patterns build up to a technologic Samba. Closing the EP Polyamory sings to interspecies love, leading us for a swim in the blue depths grasping the tail of a playful whale. While the track’s title dreams of unlimited summer love, this song confirms the duo’s unconditional passion for the Italo groove.

The compilation covers a diverse range of styles including Electronica, Deep House, Drum andBass, UK Garage and Electro. Presenting many moods from out and out dancefloor cuts to 4AM
chill out grooves.

It’s the label’s second offering since the 2020 release of ‘Aperitif EP’ by Gabagool/ Layla and will remain an ongoing project to provide access to Sydney artistry living both home and abroad.

The compilation will be released digitally on the 6th of October.

The first track “Friday Suspense” was made around 2/3 years ago and has a melody ive been holding on to for quite a while now. I was always hoping to have it see the light of day and now it has! 🌞

“Beat Bounce” first started as a drum/tool track, then I made this fun little synth and it ended up being a bit of a crowd pleaser.

“Beeps” was one of those tracks Ive always wanted to make. A simple modulating synth, a four four jungly break and lots of weird beeps over the top. 🥁
