In 2016, a huge flash flood occurred between Tangipahoa and East Baton Rouge Parishes, damaging approximately 110,000 homes. Many of the families affected were my friends. When they described the events of the flood, the powerful image of black water blotting away the ink of family photos, carrying memories away, and leaving inky, tear-like streams in its path stayed with me and drove my piece. Through Dark Waters, I attempted to recreate the events of the flood and give voice to the impact it had on the communities of the Baton Rouge area.

Level theme 2 for Rush Repair. This one is for a level that was never implemented, so it remains fully used. Like Golden Planet, this track was written to dynamically evolve, so each loop shows the different variations the track can take.

Icy Planet

"Pitter Patter" is a solo double bass piece written to imitate the sounds of a storm.  The piece begins with a light drizzle, and gradually becomes much heavier with thunder and lightning, which can be heard through extended double bass techniques.  Eventually, the storm lightens up, until eventually, all that is left is a few drops.  This piece was performed by Ivan Smetankin on February 29th at the Baton Rouge Goodwood Library with the Constantanides New Music Ensemble.

"Hail Mary" was originally written in 2018 for Immaculate Heart High School's annual Mary's day celebration.  This piece was also performed at the senior Baccalaureate Mass, by members of the drama club called the "Genesians".  This recording is from March 15th, 2019, in the LSU School of Music Recital Hall by Mikeila McQueston (soprano), Hannah Rice (mezzo-soprano) and Olivia Lauer (alto).

This poem, written by Lynne Knight is written in the form of a palindrome. While the two verses share the same text, I think that each verse has a different meaning. The first verse is hopeful and reminiscent, whereas the second verse is more decisive, as if she’s come to terms with the fact that her love is gone. Throughout the two verses, I kept the melody the same per corresponding phrase to honor Knight’s palindrome effect, while changing the piano accompaniment, just like the text changes meaning a second time.
