Last summer, Ultra Knites Records kicked off a series of "Knite Grooves" EP's. UKR006 sees label owners Sem Marini and Mike Sharon make a reappearance for summer 2015, this time under their "Ultra Knites" pseudonym for the third installment of the Knite Grooves series. As has come to be expected from the pair- two tracks on the A side which ooze class and deepness, laced with melodic keyboard solos - elements that were once a staple in the Deep House genre but have since become scarce during recent years. Flipping over to the B side, the pair welcome fresh talent from across the water in the form of a collaboration between US producer Trevor Vichas and Netherlands based Tommy Largo. There's two mixes here of "Gonna Hold On" both of which capture the essence of real Underground House music and maintain the ethos of Ultra Knites Records.

Some more Mexican music on Quintessentials! This time from long time buddy 4004, another driving force in Mexico and already an established producer with releases on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Ltd or Quintessentials. Mostly doing stuff on his own, Quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with Stuttgart’s Stylus Heat (currently working as Blunted Monks on Philpot). I’m not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you Gerardo, but there are definitely two: you’re a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!

Deelay brings the heat to Pogo House Records for release 134 and brings some nice Garage House vibes with the ‘Closer’ EP. Track 1 the ‘Original Mix’ is a well constructed garage track with bumpy beats that’s heavily inspired by the legendary ‘Nice and Ripe’ sound of the 90’s. Track 2 is the first of 2 remixes that make up this package and this is a more upbeat bassy dub with neatly chopped vocals that compliment the vibe on this remix perfect. For the second remix on this package, Deelay demonstrates a more deeper and soulful vibe with hypnotic harmonics and just enough grunt in the bassline to give this remix a nice edge to it. Perfect to take the energy down a notch and set the mood in a dj set. All in all a strong release from Deelay that’s well worth the price you pay these days on a digital release.

'Twelve 4/4' is everything you associate with it's creators past creations. Considered and temperate yet punchy and deep; and as ever, infused with about as many jazzy nuances as Duke Ellington's trumpet oil (a lot, surely?). The record as a whole and 'Twelve 4/4' in isolation provides a little respite from what appears to be a fairly raw and club driven sonic landscape right now.
